8.8" display instead of 6.5

I just got my BMW 2009 X5. And i realized that if you don't get navi u don't get 8.8" display. I saw some on a German e bay
Code:

http://cgi.ebay.de/BMW-E70-X5-X6-8-8-CID-BORDMONITOR-Board-Monitor-Screen_W0QQitemZ230337805552QQcmdZViewItemQQptZTechnik_Auto_Hi_Fi_Navigation_Einbau_Navigationssysteme?hash=item230337805552&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1229|66%3A2|65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A1318|301%3A1|293%3A1|294%3A50
So,i am interested if its possible to put 8.8" display instead of 6.5" without any further wiring ? And do somebody have a retrofit manual for it?
Tnx,i appreciate it.

I also have the 6.5" display and I was wondering if could make the change to the 8.8"?

Also, would it be possible to hookup an aftermarket backup camera to the 6.5" display?

Okay I'll bite! You can NOT change the 6.5" to the 8" screen without doing some major surgery to your vehicle. All wiring, modules, NAV system etc are different. So you would have to install NAV to get the larger screen.

You CAN however install a backup camera and hook it up to the 6.5" screen. You can either purchase the BMW retrofit kit for the camera or install an aftermarket video switcher to do the trick!

Will the bcakup cam work even if the 6.5" screen is non-navi equipped?

Yes, that's what I said above! There's a kit for vehicles with NAV and a kit for non-NAV, although you may have a tough time getting your hands on it. May be easier to go aftermarket unless you can get it in from Europe...

Dealer sells a backup camera retrofit. Have them pull the instructions for you so that you can tell for sure if it will be compatible with the 6.5" screen.

The kit sold at the dealer is only for vehicles with the Tech pkg. The kit does not come with install instructions!

What you need is a retrofit kit for cars without nav. Part No. 66210417969 and install instructions part no. EBA 0418006 from Europe. These numbers will not show up at the U.S. dealer's parts counter. Also your vehicle must have the TV module installed and PDC as a pre-requirement!

So once again, aftermarket is your best bet.

Tnx m8. One more question, how complicate is to put nav professional on a non nav vehicle?

Direct replacement of 6.5" screen to 8.8" confirmed to work with some minor disadvantages. No dealer coding is required for that.

At present time I am installing CCC Nav on E70, so far it works great, except the fact that I am still required to go to the dealer to code my CCC unit and change VO (vehicle order) on my car computer.

Once installation will be done I will post full report.
