2009 E70 US hidden navi menu

Does anyone know how to get into the hidden nav menu on the 2009 X5?(mine is the 35d)

I tried the instructions I found various places but there is no way to hold the idrive joystick NorthEast on mine, it forces you to do either up or right but not both.

Would like to be able to check my speedometer against the GPS :)

Don't know about the hidden menu, but I believe you will find your speedometer optomistic by about 8%. This used to be the case and has to do with European regulations which state that the spedometer's error can never be such that you are actually travelling faster (as opposed to slower) than the indicated speed (speedometer).

You can do a quick check of this by setting the cruise control on the highway when the speedometer is at 60 mph then reset the average speed on the on board computer. The on board will show a faster speed than the speedo. At least this has been the case on every BMW to the early 2000's.

Good idea, I will try it that way and see what I find. My VW's have all been the same way on speedometer vs. reality as well, wonder if its a Euro car thing?

Or use one of those signs that tell you your speed - mine is calibrated about 4 KM/H higher than the true value. So... going 100 KM/H your really traveling at 96...

Ok so I tested the OBC speed vs. resetting the trip computer speed. If I believe the result then my speedometer is perfect. I have some doubts about this, and unless I can figure out a way to get the GPS to display speed via hidden menu as others have managed in older idrive units, I will have to test it with a portable unit sometime.

how can I open the hidden menu ?

Try borrowing a portable GPS unit. I think you'll find that the speedo is optimistic.
