Alarm goes off for no reason

Every time that it gets warm outside, the alarm on my X5 goes off. The dealer thought two things:

1) I had a pet inside that set off the motion detector
2) I had the key in my pocket and hit the "panic" button

For #1, we have no pets. Stupid rep kept insisting that I had a pet in there (10 times since they saw that the alarm went off 10 times). Again, we have no pets.

For #2, he then insisted that I hit the "panic" button on the key. That could have been true but since I work from home and my office window faces the X5, they key is sitting on the desk at all times. Again, it's not the panic button.

So what could it be? The alarm did not go off AT ALL during the winter. Now that it's getting warmer, it's starting to go off. I checked to see if the hood latch was bad, but it's not either.

Any ideas?

It happened to me in the past, too.... The cause - a fly !!!

Thought about that... but it would have to be a pretty big fly for the motion detector to pick it out... Also, I've been "double pushing" the lock button. The second push deactivates the motion sensor. In my case, the alarm still goes off...sigh...

I've been having the same issue. Bizarre. When your alarm goes off, can you "lock" the car again and make it go away or does it go off again?

With my X5, i have to leave it unlocked, b/c once the alarm trips It wont stay off unless the car is unlocked (or I turn it on/off).

I can "unlock" it and relock it. This usually stops it for the moment. It reoccurs eventually. But as of now, I am 3 days without recurrence...

I hate to ask the obvious question... Do you want to share the information contained in that service bulletin? What was the cause? The solution? I.e. - it would help us out a lot if you were able to provide some more details vs only stating "I found a service bulletin". Many thanks in advance!

My apologies, I was in a rush. See attached.

Awesome! Thanks! So it seems like it's the interior motion sensor. Looks like they are just reprogramming it - possibly to "detune" it. No hardware swaps are done.
