Mine 07,10 from U.S and I dont needed any software update. I just go through Manual Service information. Here you are:
1.Go to Settings.
2. "Vehicle/ Tires.
3. Maneuvering aids.
4. Settings.
5. Choose "View selection"
6. Mark "Camera picture and PDC".
7. Go back to "Maneuvering aids" option "Settings".
8. Mark options "Pathway line", "Obstacle marking", "Turning lines".

i think that you dont have the NAVIGATION option, so you have the small screen.. thats why....

Guys, my car is a Sept 2007. It has only three options for the parking display.
I need a software update.
Just haven't got round to it.

Does anyone know if BMW charge for this? They shouldn't as the car is still under warantly.

Try and complain about something else.. e.g steering wheel memory doesn't work all the time .. or ipod drops to FM.. otherwise they may charge as it is not a real bug but an enhancement..
