Engine Oil trouble (pic inside)

anyone experienced this? on instrument panel the engine oil sign just pops-up this afternoon. i thought it was just like turn-off the car then check it out again in few hours but consistently the sign is there.
checking the iDrive says completely normal. i'd better call the dealership..
by the way its '09 3.0
thanks for looking.

I had this problem once with a 530I and it was something about the exhaust emissions. The dealer replaced the catalytic converter under warranty and the problem solved .

Make sure your gas cap has "clicked" into place the last time you filled her up. If not, tighten it properly and the light will go off again after a good few miles.

Also, check out the PDF SIB 12 18 09 in the current thread about transmission software update as this may apply to you too.

Very frustrating that you have to check the manual to find out what the warning light means. It doesn't show up when you check the system.
