permormance steering wheel from M3 to X5? does it fit?

hello again boys,
i have a question: does anyone of you knows if the Performance Steering wheel from M3 will fit on an E70 X5? I really want to put that steering wheel on my car

The steering wheel itself would probably fit but the X5 would not recognise the rev gear change lights or the M button!

I wonder if this wheel will work with the X5 & X6 ///M.
It would be great since both models don't come with the shift lights like the DCT M3.

It may work with the X6 or the X5 M as they have the module & code 255 which is required for the paddle shift to be activated, the current X5 at the moment does not come with code or module 255. Even if you buy both the new steering module for the steering column & paddle shift steering wheel there is no code to activate in the X5 to tell it has been fitted.

You need to wait until the X5 M comes out in Oct 09 as you maybe able to use those parts as the software code for 255 will be presents and mostly be able to be downloaded and add to your current X5!

I agree about the M button but (assuming that you can fit the wheel in the first place) the rev lights should work. The rev lights are actually a function of the wheel itself and not the car, as you can actually programme the wheel to have the rev lights correspond to whatever shifting point you like. So the wheel will use the cars revs as a reference point, but the lights itself are independantly programmable so you can set it for economy or optimum shift points or whatever your fancy.

The performance wheel is currently listed as available for 1 series and 3 series.

Any updates?

The pic isn't an M wheel, just the performance wheel for any 3 series, so you could just run the standard 3 series buttons without the M button.
