Leasing/Aero Package Question

Ditching Mercedes and signing a lease next week for loaded 2009 4.8i without the Aero Package. I really like the aggresive look of the Aero Package and asked the dealer if it could be installed prior to lease inception. He said it would take awhile to order the kit and install it, so I would probably have to wait a month or so. I am wondering if this is going to create any problems when the lease is finished. I've read on here that the vehicle needs to be turned in exactly how it was at the beginning of the lease. Also, if I am able to turn it in with the Aero Package installed, wouldn't that increase the residual value and mean that I am actually paying too much for the lease? Thanks in advance for the help.

BMW will not add (or typically won't unless it's been done by the dealer to a stock vehicle) OEM aftermarket items in the lease. It's too bad because if they did you'd only pay for a portion, but i think that's why they're not doing it.

Adding the factory aero kit is not a problem. I've added Bull-bar and 4.6 kit to my old E53 4.4 and not had any problems, actually even changed wheels (y spoke to 5 spoke) without question.

You should be able to buy the kit for 15-20% off retail plus paint and install. There are a few on ebay (one primed and one non primed) for about $800-$900. Paint and install should run you another $800, but i know the mounting instructions have been posted here and a few people have done the install themselves in a day.

good luck and let us see it!

I have done it myself its pretty easy to do. Once the parts are painted it can take about one hour to install. All said and done it cost me about $1100 doing it myself. It does help if you know someone with a body shop. Hope this helps its pretty straight forward.
Good Luck!!!

Thanks for the quick responses and the valuable information. The dealer quoted me $2700 installed - I thought that might be a little bit too high. I don't mind letting the dealer make some money, everyone has to put food on the table, but I will probably buy one on EBay and have it installed at a local body shop. I really don't have the mechanical skills to even attempt the install. I would probably end up breaking something. Thanks for the install PDF though.
