dust in engine compartment
has anyone noticed results with some anti static spray and/or armor all? the dust build up there is ridiculous. repeated cleaning is a huge pain and the dust will come back after a week.

it's an engine compartment, it should be dirty.

A couple of times a year I use Meguiar's Trim Shine or, your fave...
very lightly. Wipe it and let it dry. Then a tiny spritz of Zaino #6, which has an anti-stat agent in it, and wipe that product dry. It gets dusty, but it stays looking decent longer, imo. I don't do an A-O, spit & polish under the hood; just a gentle wipe after each wash, on the surfaces I can/feel like reaching, and a slight clean job a couple times per year. Any prod. with some anti-stat/trim black stuff should help, but as Gresch said, it's under the hood. :D GL,mD |

Not sure if i agree that the enigine compartment should be dirty..?!?!
I noticed the dust on the e53 as well, and for a BMW, im surprised the amount that accumulate in such a short time. I used to own a E30, 325i -86, and on that one it was enough to clean it ones a year.. Hardly any dust comming in.. Considering the e53 is nearly 20 years younger i had expected more from it... |

Actually mine stays very clean partly because
I never use Armour all or anything else to try to make it look better. Those things attract dust for sure. I Just use a micro fiber cloth to wipe it down once a month. Keeping it in the garage helps as well. |
