I found it interesting that the price of BMW Extended warranties favor high mileage over high years. For example, I was quoted....

7 yrs, 100,000 - 5,225
7 yrs, 70,000 - 4,575
6 yrs, 100,000 - 4,475

Not a contest, looking to see what issues hit at what mileage etc.

My X5 35d is behind yours on the assembly line, so at least you're ahead of me :)

FWIW my x5 35d hasn't had any maintenance issues I'm aware of -- yet:cool:

I just turned 20,000 miles on my '08. I'm not exactly racking up the miles but other than that exhaust values light and replacing a peeling steering wheel, I've had no issues.

I forgot that one. I too had my steering wheel trim replaced after it started to peel.

What do you folks mean by peeling steering wheel trim? Any pictures?

Thx

The black trim surrounding the buttons on the steering wheel would first bubble, then peel off revealing another layer of black plastic underneath.

I'm actually curious:

Are all these things covered by warranty?

Has anyone had to make an out of pocket replacement?

currently have 58k in mine. bought it in March '07.
I had many minor issues(rattle from dashboard, leakage from coolant hose and radiator, rear view transmitter malfunction, and so on. All was covered by the warranty) but not any major ones yet.
I had my first service done last week since my factory warranty has expired.
Changing engine oil, microfilter, and detail vehicle check came out to almost $800. They found a leakage from the washer fluid tank and quoted me $500 estimated price to change that little plastic fluid container. I told them to forget about it. Anybody knows any decent bodyshop in LA area where they can fix it at more reasonable price???
