Aerodynamic Kit Upgrade?

Hey guys i just ordered a brand new 2009 X5 48i for a 36 month lease that should be here next thursday, when i was ordering the vehicle with my the salesman at the dealership i picked out all the packages and options i wanted e.t.c., but he really sucked at informing me about the options and stuff because he completely neglected and grazed over the selection for the new M Sport Package which i was like..wait what? One of the other salesman actually had the package on his X5 and he was like yea let me show you and my salesman looked embarassed and stuff ..i mean it was cool and everything but i realllly didnt like the rims (i have the style 214 Y Spokes) it came with and especially paying 7000 for a package i didnt completely like and wasnt keeping the car in the end. So when i ordered the car and everything back in the the middle of June i was like ok cool i got the car, let me find some forums and stuff that i could join and then there it was i saw this sick car on this forum with this package and it was one of the members RH71's X5 and i was like wow thats awesome, then i went on bmw and found out it was OEM and i was like this f$#@kin dealer man..i called him back up and he was like i already ordered it blah blah blah and i was pissed because it was only 20 more dollars a month on my lease.....so then i asked him if i can have it installed once i get the car and he said yes but it will cost 2500 when it was like 1100 on bmwusa.com..i was like wait wtf you just say? hes like yea its more because of the labor costs etc..so im like f*ck this guy..can i cancel this lease and refuse this car but NOT loose my 1000 deposit? I mean i love the car i have its fully loaded except the rear climate package and 3rd row seating option..it has the sport package with the 20 inch y spoke rims, running boards the whole 9....but that guy RH71's X5 looks f#ckin great man..if im gonna loose my deposit its not even worth it, after all it is a lease....any ideas?

Yeah. RH71's X5 is very nice. I pretty much set mine up to look like his after seeing it on this forum. Though lately, I'm considering putting on the 128 rims like dubai_86 http://www.xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-foru...-interior.html

Don't know the law in New York, but I don't think you can get the $1,000 deposit back. You might be able to convince the dealer to apply it to a re-order of another car. In California, deposit's are refundable by law regardless of what the dealer might try to say.

Don't feel bad, most sales are like that. My guy didn't know what an aero kit was either.

The price he quote for the aero kit is reasonable for a dealer installed accessory.

Did you put down any MSD? Heard those are great for leases. BMWFS Improves the MSD Program! - bimmerfest - BMW Forums

wow yea dubai's got a nice one too, ive seen those rims..i really liked em but i only paid 950 more toward the sport package for my 20's..plus its only a lease and it was really getting out of hand what i was paying which im paying 889 a month at 36months 15k a year with $4300 down for my xdrive48i i mean the car is fully f*ckin loaded and it looks great, ill spend the money i dont care but theres a line i gotta draw at when i gotta spend it smartly ya know...this realllly sucks man that f#ckin aero kit makes the difference brother..no i didnt put any MSD down nor am i completely sure what it is.

MSD's act like money down, except that you get it back at the end of the lease; whereas money down is just gone.

good luck negotiating with the dealer on getting the aero kit added in.

MSD's are not applicable in the state of NY. As far as the OP's post goes. I would contact the manager of the dealer and explain your situation. Be polite and courteous and you will most definitely reach some type of amicable solution. What dealer is it anyway?

paid $2300+tax for the aerokit install after the car arrived. Some paid as low as $1500 if they did some of the work elsewhere or themself. You haven't missed out on it at this point really, but the dealer not knowing anything can be frustrating.

I did mine with Nick Sinclair from sales there and he was the one who quoted me the $2300. If you call other dealers I'm sure they'll try to compete for your business. Or have an independent shops do parts of the work for cheaper.
