very nice. i'm not an expert in this but it's hard for me to tell the difference. does it improve handling or just for looks?

Hans_ACS 07-19-2009 05:16 PM

Yosemite_sam 07-19-2009 06:07 PM

Looks menacing... I LOVE IT :)

Rboosted717 07-19-2009 06:43 PM

Do you have a picture of the rear when lowered?

Looks great by the way. 100x more aggressive looking!!!

Rboosted717 07-19-2009 08:09 PM

Very nice!
Do you have a picture from the rear of the truck? I'm curious how the rear bumper, exhaust, etc... look in a lowered stance.

rh71 07-19-2009 08:46 PM

Dunno if cman told you but I saw you flying down the 495 a couple months back... looked like a beast... I actually thought it was black, the colors are very similar. Still debating whether I should do the spacers like you guys.

providenceleaf 07-19-2009 09:29 PM

Very nice Kerry! I think you just added another thing on my list of mods planned.

CleanIsFast 07-19-2009 09:53 PM

Wow loving it, my buddy has the exact same color/rim combo. Looks flawless. What is that below your rear bumper? Another camera?

How much total did it cost for the springs? Im thinking about dropping it as well.

Also, where did you get the different BMW emblem? Yours is sweet :D

Stevev 07-19-2009 10:43 PM

One beautiful ride there

Rboosted717 07-19-2009 11:18 PM

dsm2925 07-20-2009 12:29 PM

KYZRSOSE 07-20-2009 12:37 PM

What kind of springs did you use up front, rear links? How much? Me likey and want for my X. Where did you get the work done in LI?

Nice Ride! My X is scheduled for some of my mod's this week, and would like to add this one to my list.

C's Bimmer 07-20-2009 01:40 PM

The links for the rear I got from member Silver5 right here on this board. Contact him for that. As far as getting the work done, I have the best BMW mechanic for stuff like thhis. I've been using him for years for all of my mod work. He's located in Plainview. I will send you his info via PM when you're ready.

Sorry, your right....I should have looked before.... :( I will definately look to do this. Right now, I'm busy getting the running boards, aero kit, wheels re-finished and all exterior grills, etc..painted. Next is the roof rail delete, then on to the lowering...

Nice ride.

King 07-20-2009 07:40 PM

Looks awesome! I just dropped mine too and at first I had the 2" drop springs which I later swapped out for the 1.2" drop. The handling was freakin amazing, but it was too harsh on the bumps!

Looking at your pics I can almost say for sure it dropped more than 1.25". Did you actually measure before and after?? I will post pics of mine before and after installing the H&R 1.2" drop springs and you will see it actually drops a lot more than they claim. However it still looks good!

How did you get your exhaust tips painted blk? I believe they are spot welded to the muffler and can not be removed! I assume your painter taped everything off and sprayed them??

King 07-20-2009 07:43 PM

Hey Cman...did you get your wheels repainted?? I would really like to see pics of the 214's in blk. Thinking about doing it but can't decide...

Estroil 4.8is 07-20-2009 10:18 PM

Looks amazing Poleposition! Glad the links worked out for you. Also thanks for mentioning me in your thread. Can you email some pics? [email protected] I'd like to use them for my up coming website.

Those are actually the OEM 215's (21"). The 214's are the 20" OEM wheels.

GGreek 07-21-2009 12:43 PM

That drop looks perfect. Beautiful ride man. Cant wait to get rid of my 335i and grab an X5!!

King 07-21-2009 01:43 PM

Do you notice any difference going from the 214s to the 215s? The 215s are definately much bigger, heavier and wider. Just wondering if it compromises handling, acceleration and braking by lugging that extra weight and size. I feel the bumps more after lowering it and I'm wondering how much worse it gets by going to an even lower profile tire like the 325's in the rear!

I noticed BMW decided to stick with 20" wheels for the X5-M instead of 21"...

The OP never had the 214's. His X5 came with the 19's which he's using for his Winter Wheels and he purchased the 215's from a private party, so he never did feel the difference.

HOWEVER, I have driven the OP's X5 many times and it feels EXACTLY the same as my 214's. Since both sets of wheels utilize Dunlop RUN-FLATS, the feel and feedback from the road is pretty much the same, since both tires have very strong reinforced sidewalls. There's not much feedback in terms of feel with a RF Tire, such as these. That said, the feel and handling is identical.
