Custom Maganaflow exhaust installed! (video clips too!)

Ok here it is. I was speechless when I picked my truck up. The look and sound was exactly what I was looking for! You know when you are so excited about something then you are slightly disappointed? Well that didn't happen. :D

For the $600 total price of this mod the Remus for $1100 and the $2500 Meisterschaft and Eisenmann systems seem like ripoffs. The Remus doesn't give you the mostly wanted quad tip setup and the other 2...well I was considering spending the $2500, but now I'm glad I didn't. These videos are ok, but they do no justice to the in person sound. It's pretty ridiculous.

Also, there is NO DRONE at all! I'm not kidding. I've driven this for a couple of days now. There is no obnoxious drone in the car.

Anyway, here are some pics and more importantly the links to the videos.

The warm idle/rev video is good. On the drive off video (I shot this myself) spare yourself the boredom of in between sequences. Go to :20-:45, 1:05-1:18, and 1:53-2:15 of the video. Sorry I'll post something better when I can have someone stop the camera and when it's not raining :)

nice work Mark. Cant wait to see it in person

KYZRSOSE 07-24-2009 11:17 AM

NICE! $600?? Why would I spend $200 for an x-pipe then? That's worth the extra 400 bills. The only thing I would do different would be to incorporate the stock 4.8i tips with that setup.

Great job!

TaMbALoLoNg 07-24-2009 11:18 AM

:wow: SSSSSSSWWWWWWWWEEEEEEEEEEEEETTTTT
Dont tease me now. I was just at my exhaust shop yesterday, standby for mine :D.

Deng it! i cant open utube at work:(

FreddyG 07-24-2009 12:43 PM

That sounds SWEET and $600 is a Phenominal price for Custom work!

We have a couple shops around here that are capable of mandrel bends and I just might have to look into them now! :beerchug:

Hans_ACS 07-24-2009 01:20 PM

Great, love that sound !

It would have cost $480 had I kept the stock tips. The tips were $120.

from the pictures they do not look straight. They appear to be pointing out to the left and right on some angle. Not sure I like the look of it that way, I think they look better facing the back evenly.. Just my .02, sound s greaty tho

ncx 07-24-2009 02:35 PM

Sounds great, looks great, WINNER!

mtech8 07-24-2009 03:14 PM

Thanks for the clips!

Love the sound. Nice looking tips too. Even got to see the 128's in motion.

rh71 07-24-2009 03:20 PM

good stuff, was that in DS mode at all?

piaabro210 07-24-2009 08:05 PM

The clip of doing the drive-bys are funny especially the dead air. I understand you did it yourself but its still funny ;-)

Nice set-up!

art4.8i 07-24-2009 10:29 PM

Wow! That is amazing: exactly what I am looking for. So, how does one obtain such an exhaust?

C's Bimmer 07-24-2009 11:50 PM

Sounds great, Mark. I have to hear it person though. I had a Magnaflow on my old E60 and the drone was pretty bad in the car. If I do an exhaust on the X, it has to have ZERO drone, which I don't think is possible, regardless of the manufacturer. My M5 is so freakin' loud, my wife HATES it. I love it, but since the X is her car, I have to listen. Hahahahaha!

Regardless, it sounds OUTSTANDING! Love it bud.:wow:

SoCal_M3 07-25-2009 07:37 AM

Just curious, what would an aftermarket exhaust sound like on a diesel??

TaMbALoLoNg 07-25-2009 11:24 AM

OK, i finally watched the vids. :thumbup:great job and even better the cost. Its a good thing you didn't hit any of those incoming cars on the drive by:rofl:. I have to agree, they somewhat look angled outwards on the pics. Overall, "GREAT JOB";)

FreddyG 07-25-2009 11:59 AM

Do you have the part number for the muffler?

Does it have any drone at certain rpm"s?

C, there is ZERO drone. I'm not kidding. I am very surprised. I know what you mean about the drone because I had the same setup on my E60 as well. You can't tell there is any type of aftermarket exhaust under normal driving. I know it's shocking that there is NO DRONE. I'll be down there soon. You'll have to check it out and be stunned as well. Did I mention how pleasantly surprised I was that there is ZERO drone!

Thanks...If you ride in mine you'll get the same setup ;)

Just go to your local exhaust shop tell them you want this and they do the rest. You can print a picture of the underside I posted and they will be able to copy my setup. It's not complicated. They are just replacing the BIG GIANT ASS stock muffler and replacing it with 2 smaller Magnaflow mufflers. ;)

The looks I'm already getting from people is priceless.

Magnaflow part # 11235. You need 2. You can stick with the factory tips or get these...

Thanks buddy! The oncoming traffic wasn't as close as it looks on film.

They look more angled in pics. In person they have a very slight angle. It flows with the curve of the bumper. Originally the guy showed me what they looked like straight back and it looked really awkward so he angled them out ever so slightly and it looked much better. Very similar to the way the factory tips are. Take a look at your factory tips and you'll notice they do angle out a bit.

TaMbALoLoNg 07-25-2009 03:59 PM

This is more like the look I'm after. Just the tips though.

Yeah I'm not a huge fan of those. They look like they stick out to much IMO. I was going to have mine done similar to that and couldn't get over the fact that they didn't flow with the curve of the bumper.

Anyway, I can't wait to see and hear yours buddy!

I would be very interested to know as well, I would love to have this on my Diesel but wouldn't want to hear any drone sound inside the car.

Bozz.

Thank You Very Much! :beerchug:

Have you gotten any SES (Service Engine Soon) lights because of back pressure or anything like that? Can you feel any difference in performance or is it all sound?

It does sound Really Good!

RichiRich 07-28-2009 01:58 PM

Holy Crap!! That sounds Tough!!!! Very well done!!!

Looks good as well! I hear what they are saying about the angle but that is minutia.....

..........on to the next!

Thanks.

No SES light. All that was done was replacing the muffler so the chance of that happening is almost impossible.

As far as performance I don't really feel any difference. I was just going for the sound anyway. ;)

Option to consider

Has anybody else tried this option? how is the sound, I watched the videos but is not the same as in person.

I know Magnaflow has been on the market for a long time, but are the exhaust 100% stainless? how is their quality compared to Remus, Meisterschaft or Eisenmann?

Appreciate your help,

BGReddy00 12-13-2009 07:04 PM

Sounds great on the 4.8-Has anyone done this with a 3.0? I bought the Magnaflow #35168 tips, and I wasn't going to switch the muffler as I didn't think it would make much of a difference, but this system is such a great deal.

I'm curious if it be worth doing I paid $102 for two sets of tips already, and can get two mufflers for $140, then install $200= $442

BMWX54.4 02-10-2010 02:13 AM

Congrats. Sounds like a V8
