Thanks Alefcole ...... I'll give it a go. The beach I'm planning to drive on is a fairly popular beach, and only 4 or 5 km long. I'd be driving along the firmer sand most of the time, but would need to go through the soft stuff when entering or leaving the beach-access road. If I get stuck, hopefully someone can assist, so I don't have to dig my way out, or put boards in front of the wheels.
Also, I'm not sure how firm the sand is near the camping area. I'll be careful not to make too many turns in the soft sand. But I'll have a look at the profile of the RFTs at say 20psi. I assume I won't even see a difference. I've had the X5 for nearly 17 months, and haven't had a flat (well.... low pressure) yet. Ideally I'd like to get some regular tyres, but is far too costly to get a spare set (5 of them) just to go camping on the beach 2 or 3 times a year. As I've never driven on sand, I'm greatful for any advice. .... thanks. |
