35d Block Heater

2 weeks until my Performance Center delivery. Cant wait. Being from Nebraska, I started wondering if the X5 comes with a built in block heater on the diesel or if I would have to add it aftermarket. Anyone know if its standard or have a suggestion for a good, easy to install aftermarket part?

No, it's not standard, or an option. I had no problems last winter here in Missouri...

So far so good on the PC delivery. I ordered July 18th and requested a Friday delivery. August 21st was the first one available. I needed a Friday so I could have 3 days to drive back to Nebraska using back roads and making frequent detours and such during the breakin period. Its exactly 1200 miles from the factory to my door. Pretty cool.
As far as pricing, no the price is the same as you would get picking up a special order at the dealer. The PC delivery is included in the destination fee. The way I see it, at least this way I get something for my 800 bucks.

I spent a while planning the route home, trying to avoid the interstate as much as possible and doing some sightseeing along the way. Blue Ridge Parkway, Tail of the Dragon, Smoky Mountains, Land Between the Lakes, etc. I'll post pictures of the trip when I get back.

Check with BMW Canada, they must have this option. Even still, a block heater is nothing but a heating element that replaces the coolant drain plug in the block that you plug into the wall outlet. It doesn't have to 'OEM'.
