My glove box looked exactly like that. The dealer ordered a new door and replaced it under warranty. I think the glue they used is the problem.

Seems like that could be a common problem.

they seem to say that with a lot of the little annoying bugs,
like; suspension leveler, comfort access, clunk in the trunk, side stiching on the seat giving up, auxiliary pump noisy(replaced)
I must be up to 9-10 visit since january
tried to resell for a 535xi and after 20 months the car is worth only 46K, paid 72k, was listed as 81k, and risidual on tyhe 535 for 36 month lease is down to 49%
they say thay can't resell as well as before
no wonder, with all these issues....

The electronics can be frustrating at times as well.

Did they replace or just re-glue?

I thought I might have been the only one to have this problem, as I just had my glove box trim replaced less than a week ago. Had the same exact issue where the soft plastic trim was lifting at all four corners. The SA and paper work indicate that the entire trim had been replaced so I'm assuming it wasn't just a re-glue job.

BTW: also had issues with the peeling trim on the rubbery part of the steering wheel. It wasn't a big enough issue to warrant a trip to the dealer alone, but a couple of things collectively prompted a vist and a fix all under warranty.

Now the steering wheel and glove box lid look good as new. Hope the replacements last long, as I would hate to make this a regular part of the "maintenance" process.

Good luck and try your dealer if you're experiencing the same issues.

what year are your Xs? I see a handful of '07s. Could be 1st run issues they've corrected. They say it's common but it could be 07s that come back. Just a guess. I would call out poor quality if I see it but I haven't had any craftsmanship problems in my vehicle.

I had the same problem on the steering wheel (just on the left side buttons,) and the glovebox issue. Both were repaired with out question (even though one was done after 50K (glovebox.)

I have the same issue with the steering wheel. Can you order the button 'section' separately ?

Just had the glove box replaced in our '07 with the same problem, now our steering wheel is peeling. Seems pretty common.
