Cheers

great write up...

TQ2K told me to do this (like what he did for his e53), instead of getting a preowned, get a new e70 and have it picked up from Spartanburg... i will surely let the CEO read this thread tonight, "Hey, you never know!"

GoVols,
Good & enjoyable read and cool pics! I live <30 mins from some of your
BRPkway shots. NE, huh? I've ridden Hwy 2, on one of my scoots, which
was a decent ride. Long way from a TN Fan!
Good Luck with your new diesel!

That does look like alot of fun. I would love to do that but I always buy pre-owned because I dont put alot of miles on a car. However, after hearing about this cool experience I may have to rethink.

Thanks for the write-up! I love my X35D as well. I get that same slight hesitation when I'm starting from a stop sometimes. I think it's just the way the transmission is programmed/geared.

I did some testing on this yesterday.

I'm beginning to also think that it's the tranny. You hit the gas and it searches for a gear. You'd think that an "advanced BMW computer" could find 1st gear, but what do I know..... I think that this is where the hesitation comes from. If you go to manual mode and force it into 1st, it goes immediately. In auto mode, it seems like the engine is revving but no power is sent to the wheels for a split second. I know diesel's struggle from a standing start without the turbo, but I cant fathom it having NO power while the turbo spools up. Stabbing the gas eliminates the hesitation that a light foot brings, so maybe the tranny can figure it out in that situation.
