New Nav vs. Old Nav
I was in a friend's MB over the weekend and on their Nav it shows gas stations (Texaco, Exxon, etc) that are in the area. Is that a feature that is part of the new Nav and/or was it ever a part of the "old" Nav ?

The icons were there even in my old 2002 MB M-class (with MCS). Coming from MB vehicles, I think BMW Nav could use major update. The routing wasn't accurate, hard to find major Point of Interests, and it's not too intuitive for the navigation menu, IMO. Maybe the 2010 iDrive update will address those issues.

BMW North America You need to click on "Navigation," and then "Find a POI" to get to the right portion of the interactive video. |
My navigation shows the gas stations !

The MB Nav actually shows the Exxon or Shell or Mobil logo instead of just generic gas stations logo. In my 2008 X5 (with 2008.1 map), you have to go all the leg works like Penguin said to display the POIs where in MB Nav you can select default POIs to show all the time.
Those POIs are not my complaints though since basically you can achieve the same thing in different ways. My biggest complaints would be on how the routing works. I'm hoping it gets better with latest maps (2010.1 maps from NavTeq whenever they release it). |
Thanks Penguin. Ok, this is for the new iDrive but what about for '09s and previous--does it have gas stations, etc, as well ?
