Second Gen Upgrade(r u next?)
Just noticed but it seems there's an increasing number of 53 owners switching to the 70 lately. Could it be that the 70 look has finally grown in to our die hard 53 owners? or simply moving forward? But its good to know there is definitely loyalty to this great SAV.

It might just be the $4500 incentive on the diesels. ;) That's what brought us over.
|
I would say defiantly I'm going to buy the new X5 !! when its out on day,the new ganeration ,probably F70 :p and offcourse It'll be M POWERED !

E53s aren't getting any younger. Updating to an E70 is just the natural progression.
|
As others have posted, early E53s are getting on in years. Some, like ours, have been repair prone. Extended warranties are getting much more expensive, when you can get them. But having said that, we were still planning to keep our 2001 E53 as long as we could. The ONLY reason we moved from our 2001 E53 to a 2009 E70 this year, was because our E53 was totaled by being hit from the rear. The diesel simply made the forced transition a bit easier :)

Frankly I have loved the looks of E70 from day one... I think it is one of the best looking SUV/SAV's out there. The only thing stopping me from an upgrade to it is money: my e53 is paid for and we are making payments on my wife's 328i. With my one car payment at a time approach, it will be a while before I can get into an E70, but I will be there.

i figure right now i'm in college..theres no way i'm gettin an e70 until after this. I'm too nervous about driving my 53 around here already. nevermind an e70
i do see some spoiled b!tch driving around in a sport package blk 2009 4.8i (the rims are as black as the paint by now) i wanna yell at her everytime i see her |

I will probably be as well but just waiting to see maybe if BMW changes the Sports pack back to include Adaptive Drive in the Spring when the facelift and TT come. I'm not really happy about that change and curious to see how they offer the 20" wheels, etc. I want the new iDrive but if it's that vs. not having the true handling of the Sports pack I might just stick to finding an '09 that is still on a lot somewhere with the options I want and get the 2.9% financing on '09s as they will offer that for a few months here.
So, when will the '10 Build Your Own be up on BMW's site ? Has to be any day now. |

STFU i worked 3 jobs in highschool haha. i got the car after driving a 1994 325i for a year and a half. my parents did help me with the purchase though.... |
I'm guilty - I just traded in my 4.6is for an E70:thumbup:

I wasn't ready to leap until the diesel came out. Now I really want it. But the E53 is paid for and having a car payment again - oy vey, not! With 50K on the clock there is lots more life left in my E53. If I could find a Platinum Bronze diesel...
|
Our next car is a diesel... maybe the second year of the tri-turbo if that comes to fruition. :zoom:

Although not a direct upgrade, I came from a 2001 4.4 E53 back around to an E70...(actually e53 to XC90 lease takeover from my wife, then to LR3 HSE -few stops in between). Happy to be home again!

I parked next to a ML350 and a RR HSE at the casino parking, all of our rides are black. but IMO the 70 blows the ML as far as looks, the RR looks nice, but i wonder what the owner said when he saw our rides next to each other.

Aging E53, 4500 incentive and the 3 year lease started in 2006 coming due. There is flood of used E53 coming off leases in the market.
