IPODintegration and programing
 

I have E70 4.8i, I am planning to install the IPOD integration kit from BMW, I read that after installation it needs programing.

is the programing to make the system recognize the IPOD adapter OR just to activate the steering control.

The reason why I am asking I just did the integration on my 2006 Mercedes Benz E350 Sport, same thing was told needs programing, but what I found that the programing is to activate the steering control, and if the car has a phone integrated in it no programing needed.

SO IS IT THE SAME FOR THE X5??!!

The programming needs to be done so that the new alien device (in this case the iPOD interface) gets recognized by the car's MOST bus. This will automatically enable your steering wheel buttons. The dealers usually charge upto 2hrs for programming.
