Used e70 prices

In the market for a used X5 and look like I'm goign to be forced to an E53 due to price. Why are E70s going for so much on the used market? Even with high mileage most of them are all in the upper 30K range? What gives..is it that much better of an upgrade over the E53? Just looking to see if its worth the price difference. Thanks

new body styleing is a big reason plus all the added technology and warranty.

Every time a manufacturer makes a major upgrade, the used price differential increases at the year split between the old version and the new version. In addition, the E53 used market has vehicles in it that have come off of lease, while the E70 used market does not yet have the "off of lease we need to sell" vehicles in the market, i.e., used prices will probably drop a bit after a model is on the market for 36 months.
