Haha I was duped !! :yikes:

I actually ended up liking the Light Poplar since I have Jet Black black exterior and black interior--it's a nice contrast. When I get an e70 I will probably roll the same colors unless something else jumps out at me. I like the Saddle Brown with Bamboo since it's only the seats that are Saddle and the rest is black.

Well, to be fair, my understanding is that there is quite a bit of labor involved, and there's always that chance of an expensive slip with a screwdriver, wrench, or other implement. So I can understand their reluctance.

Yeah, in your situation that's the exact response I would expect the dealer to give...

Picked up my X5d today....and it DID have the Bamboo I had ordered!!!
However I have to admit that after your post, I was preparing myself to deal with the walnut :)

Well, I may be in a different position perhaps than others, in that I really don't need the X5 for transportation immediately, but if mine does not come exactly as I ordered it, I'll simple decline to accept it and either order another with the eco credit, or simply wait for the 2011 facelift if the eco credit is no longer available.

It's good question... if the car comes not exactly as speced and the eco credit is no longer offered by BMW... and you want the exact spec car you ordered to begin with and are willing to wait for another build... would someone (BMW or dealer) still have to/willingly pony up the $4500 ... hmmm?

spacey :D

You're certainly right. There is a good deal of labour involved in replacing the trim. The center console alone, BMW charges 4 hours labour. For the doors, the entire planel has to come off, for the trim to be replaced. Only the dash board is "relatively easy".

The trim itself is very pricey. A set can run you in at around $1200 bucks.
