Instrument Panel Glass

Hi,

Does anyone know if it's possible just to replace the glass in front of the instrument binacle? I have no idea how but mine is cracked....dealer told me it the whole instrument panel needs replacing. Just wondered if they want to sell me the whole thing rather than sell me a piece of glass!

It's one entire unit. There's no separate part number just for the clear plastic face.

Thanks for that. I'll put up with a small crack and a bit of misting in the bottom corner rather than spend £1000 on a new one. Fairly sure a dealer wont spot it if I ever trade it in!

In the U.S., there are companies that specialize in repairing instrument clusters. Check around in the U.K. and you might find someone who can custom cut and install a new front glass.

Often these companies also specialize in restoring instruments for old car restorations, so asking people who deal with classic car restoration might get you a few leads.

Used car dealers also often need to fix such things at reasonable prices. So it's also possible a friendly used car dealer could point you to someone who does these sort of repairs.

And if you do a Goggle on: speedometer repair

You will see the types of businesses I an talking about.

The "cluster lens" if thats what we're talking about is serviceable (meaning you can change it). Not sure if you'll be able to buy just the lens but I think on Ebay you can find a replacement cluster and then swap lenses from it with your own.

Thanks for the advice!

I've found a company in the UK called Cluster Repairs UK appropriately! So I'll give them a try in the morning.

There is one out there on ebay ( I think it says its for an E60) but the style and outline looks identical - especially for the lens. Do a search on "BMW cluster"
