Track Your BMW

Hi,
I try to check the status of my X5 order last week. It show "On Order" but my CA told me it already "Schedule for Production" next week + 1 wk Production + 2wk for transportation. My question is the online status are not up to date as Dealer system?

Please advise. Thanks

LeMansX5 10-26-2009 10:35 PM

Toll free # is more up-to-date. Web site is few days behind. Dealer info is latest.

1-800-831-1117

And if you don't want to talk to the operator (she never understands what I'm saying):
Dial number
When operator starts talking, press 2
When operator starts talking, enter production number
When operator starts talking, press 1
Listen for reply

The 800# told me my X5 is in production and ESTIMATE COMPLETION date is "Jan 5 2010" my CA told me the car should be ready for pickup last week of NOV 2009....which is more accurate?

Penguin 11-03-2009 11:05 AM

The CA has the best data.

Mine is waiting at the dealership, but the web says it is still in the VPC, and the phone line says it is "awaiting transportation."

I recently placed an order for a 3.0 X5 and was told that my car was scheduled to go into production during the 48th week of the year. When I check the status via the 800 number, it stated that my production number has no scheduled production date.

Is that normal?

So, despite it being only about 3 weeks away, the production status on the 800 phone system would still state that the production date is unknown? When will it give an actual date for production in the phone system?

For me, i got the actual date 3 business days before the start... and then, production started 2 days early (Thursday vs Monday).. so actual answer is 1-3 business days

Wow, that's bizarre... My went into production 2 days ago, sales guy said that he still thinks we can do the delivery in Nov or beginning of Dec at the latest. Called the 800# today and it says that it's in production and estimated completion date is Nov 11 2009... man that's next wednesday! I guess they are really rolling once they start...

Picking up the car this Saturday in MD (it's actually going to be ready today/tomorrow) - they are installing the hitch. Ordered 10/19. But... the order date v.s. actual production apparently is not consistent from dealer to dealer or region to region. There was a guy here who got his delivered within 14 days from the date he ordered (east coast, don't remember where but I want to say N.J.). And there is a guy in California who says he ordered a day or so after or before me and his dealer has been saying that a) its going to be long time (end of Nov/some time in Dec) before it's built and b) he won't be able to pick it up until beginning of Jan.

So... go figure... don't know why such differences.

Week 48 is Nov 23.
Dec 14 is week 51.
Call the 800 number and put in your production number for an update. Also, your CA will have more updated status (based on his computer program).

The problem is that people have misunderstood what the BMWUSA tracking function really is. Most people assume it is an information source, where in real life it is actually meant to be an online adventure game... "track your BMW."

dreamx5 11-18-2009 11:12 PM

Good one !

Cincinnati Kid 11-19-2009 12:48 AM

Anyone having trouble tracking production via the BMWUSA web site? I'm getting a site related error message. Worked OK yesterday.

Yup! Totally screwed up and there is no one to fix it. It has been like this for a few days. Ridiculous. Called today and talked to client relations. Even they couldn't log on to the system which is proof that their data is as bad as ours. Don't waste your time with the website. My status was at prep center a week ago. Just for kicks, I created a new user and added the same production code and now it says it's on order! How can a car be on order and at the prep center at the same time? I have given up on it and will just wait it out. The CA updates me once in a while.

And about the so called client relations... don't hold your breath. I have talked to them several times and have gotten all kinds of BS ranging from your car is on order to it won't get built for another month to it was built last week!

z2g 11-19-2009 04:51 PM

So, the 800# states that my order has been received by the carrier and awaiting transport. God....the wait is hell!

I just hope the car is here before the end of the year so I can take advantage of the Holiday Credit and use this purchase as a tax write-off for this fiscal year.

2010X5d 11-20-2009 10:27 AM

Build date is the week of December 1st 2009

I had received an email from CA stating that build date is the week of December 1st 2009 http://www.xoutpost.com/images/smilies/thumbup.gif

I hope I get the deliverery n invoiced this year to get tax write-off and sales tax deduction for this year.

Any guess how much time it takes to build and truck it to North East (Connecticut) :(

Luck would be my guess in picking the dealer who apparently is liked by the BMW gods. Like I said before, I have no idea why there are such differences in order to delivery times. It seems to go waaaaay beyond just simple distance from Spartanburg as a main factor. I do see though that East Coast seems to be getting the cars quicker than West Coast, which could be the distance thing but the difference seems to be beyond reasonable. But then again, I know absolutely nothing about how the business/scheduling/execution/paperwork etc. works for transporting the cars from the factory to the various dealers throught the country. It could be for example that California may require (which wouldn't be all that surprising - not that it's a bad thing ;)) a lot more certifications related to the environmental stuff.

Just my $0.02

For me the 800# was still saying that until yesterday I think, at which point it was already waiting for me @ the dealer for couple of days w/the hitch installed. So I would definitely start pinging your sales guy w/elevated frequency ;) right about now LOL.

Called the 800 # and mine finally begun production with expected completion date 12/02/09.

nwilkens 11-23-2009 12:39 PM

I also just ordered an X5 4.8. I think I may have found the solution to this waiting anxiety.....

Buy other toys that are immediately available ;) I just bought a new Motorola Droid phone, and it has helped me get through the last 2 days without thinking much about the X5 delivery date!

Also, I didn't really expect this waiting period to be so bad, but I find myself checking the production status a few times per day, and then looking through the forums, finding pictures, finding videos on youtube, etc..

- Nick

genemish 11-23-2009 02:25 PM

perfectly normal.. expect to have sleepless night during production week, pondering why the 800 # still says its in the paint shop after 3 days.. and then feeling guilty pestering your dealer after the 800 # rep's screen is "black"..

ChuckG 11-24-2009 01:27 PM

The website information for tracking my ordered X5 35d is wrong on the exterior and interior colors. My dealer shows the order to be correct.

By the way what is the 800 number for tracking my order.

Chuck

Yep, that's standard. Mine was wrong and showing one time and not the next time I logged in. Dealer was showing it correctly all along.

(800) 831-1117

Then, option 2, then your order#, then 1 to confirm its the order number.
