PIC Request -: Style 227M with Spacers

I've ordered my Style 227M rims .. they have same offset as 214's. Anyone got pics of 227M with spacers ? Looks like the general consensus is 20mm but I'd like to go 25mm as these bolt on and use original bolts rather than longer bolts...I have 30mm spacers already but think that will be a little much...

jamesboags 10-29-2009 07:32 AM

No-one... ? They have the same offset as Style 214 ... so I may just have to be the first to do it ???

227Ms with 25 or 30mm spacers, forgot

A bit wide but looks fantastic. I even found a carwash which fits! Ok its pure torture for the sidewalls but it doesn't touch the rim so its fine.

SamS, do you have more pics? thanks...

Dug up some more pics for ya'll. First one got the photoshop treatment, others haven't gone through any serious postprocessing (hence the quik cheesy copyright). :D

Its a x35D btw.

Bonus: Tirewall torture! Though the metal liners didn't touch the rim and only rubben on the sidewall, I can live with that.

Just double-checked their 25mms. They look better in person. Good choice!

:iagree: Those would be OEM as he has the M-sport pack.

SamS. Do you have comfort glass on windshield? Is that Sapphire black? I see greenish tint.

227s get my vote.

Carbon Black with standard windshield

Polarizer filter screws up windshield and headlight colors. Carbon Black reflects about everything around it, so the slight green your seeing is things around the car.

Newbie here... why would you want to put additional spacers at all 4 corners... aren't the rims already spaced properly for 48i shafts?

jamesboags 11-01-2009 10:41 PM

Approx 10mm at front and 20mm at rear is definitely required to push the wheels out to a more agressive stance. Stock offsets are sometimes regarded as too conservative.....

Got them fitted... 25mm spacer at rear..maybe a little too much...

Hey Guys,

They look great.

Just to confirm 10mm in the front and 25mm on the rear.

What brand did you get?

Cheers

jamesboags 12-13-2009 06:03 AM

H&R brand and I added only 25mm to rear , none to front...25mm is minimum to have bolt on type , 20mm needs longer wheel lugs...

Be extra careful with the side walls, they're what make your run-flats, well, "run flat!" :-)

omasou 12-13-2009 03:47 PM

If the rims are the same offset why are you using spacers? Looks? or Function?

Mason 12-13-2009 06:51 PM

Team,

A couple of questions.

Does it change the geometry of the set up?
Make the car drive any differently?
Does it cause extra wear on the tires (i would imagine that with the spacer it exaggerates the camber)
Cause any dramas with sensors?
Does it make the car tram line?

Not putting spacers on the front does it make (the front) look a little narrow? Especially because the rear is now SO wide?

Cheers,

Cheers,

I am no expert but I'm going from 19's with a 30mm spacer to the new wheels so I can't really note any real difference in handling other than the 20's grip beautifully... I also have non runflats for the forst time so there are a lot of changes to absorb at once ... The tyre dealer also took some camber out of the rear as I just do city driving meaning wear should be less inner wear on the rears. As far as look the car looks like it has a very agressive stance.. I would say 20mm is optimal but I wanted bolt ons. As an aside these 227's are frickin hard to clean !!!! But the look is worth it !!

:iagree:, the 227's are a pain in the a$$ to clean! :banghead: Although they look so much more aggressive than the 210's I put on for the winter. Can't wait for Spring to arrive so I can put my 227's back on!
