Want to talk about fees? In Canada, freight and PDI is close to $2,000!!! I wonder what the actual profit in that charge is?

I have always asked and received a sales sheet stating all details of the transaction.
Base price of the new vehicle
Each option being purchased
Discount from list
Trade in value
Sales tax
Fees like DOC
Inventory tax
Other state fees like registration/inspection
Giving a drive away price.

I would not purchase a vehicle without this document.

Closed the deal last night, didn't really make much progress but my wife is happy and that makes me happy (sort of). Basically, I had to split the eco credit with the dealer and I had a real problem with that. Naturally, they don't see it that way.

Why? I assume you had a price established prior to ordering, except for the disputed additional fees?

If they really did do that, you should let everyone know who the dealer is, so they can avoid them like the plague, as it sounds like they reneged on the deal.

Agreed with Penguin. That is BS. At worst, you should have split the doc fee with them. Absolute worst case scenario, I would have paid the full doc fee to make my wife happy. That is crap they made you split the ECO credit. Sounds like somebody needs a biatch slap.

Well, I think congrats is still in order - In the whole realm of things, it's not a BIG number however I do understand, it's the principle. Time to move on from it and enjoy the new ride!

DISCLAIMER: Coming from a Canadian that pays 2K in extra fees :(

Cheers

I think you mean in overall fees (bank, doc, etc) ? I hope you meant that.. otherwise, :wtf:

You may have the last laugh. When BMWUSA calls you with their survey questions, you can give them low scores, which will effect their position on customer satisfaction with BMW.

They want 4's and 5's (or 9's & 10's) to fit their statistical analysis. Anything less will hurt their standings.

You really should mention that they split the eco credit with you. BMW has been advertising the whole $4,500 on TV and the internet, and if they see their dealers taking some of that......they might use that against the dealer when he''s looking for allocations, deals, etc.

Don't let them get away with it..........

Yeah, typically BMW has used unadvertised dealer incentives, which gives some latitude as to how it affects the price (although most decent dealers will pass all of it along). But when it is a BMW advertised incentive, clearly BMW NA's intent is that the entire amount be passed through to the customer.
