Genemish,
Where did you get the "Sunshine Kids" seat storage thingy's?

02fireman 11-15-2009 05:22 PM

Looks great but how do you lock the ball and tounge?

KYZRSOSE 11-15-2009 06:44 PM

Very nice! Enjoy it.

King 11-15-2009 06:54 PM

Nice ride especially with the aero kit! Space grey looks even better with the ferric grey 21" 215s!;) Yeah you gotta' hardwire that radar and lose that front license plate!

XXL-X5 11-15-2009 07:46 PM

Very nice. Looks like the aero kit is next on my list. I too am curious how you would lock in the ball and tounge? Where did you get the crossbars?
Thanks!

the most bottom part of the kit is actually missing. it's not visible anyway and I can get on my knees and reach the hole for the pin easily. Already tried it today with the bike/ski rack. took extra 30 seconds vs E53 setup.

Looks great. Is there enough room to get the plug adapter in there for the trailer harness?

Genmish,
Seems like you put a lot of thought in all the details. Beautiful car! What are those mats you got? Are they weathertech? I've heard mixed reviews on them even though my prior experience was great.

thank you.. yes, thought and pain during the waiting process.

front row are weathertech all season mats -- used on 5 cars now .. LOVE them..

2nd row is BWM floor liner... i like it because it covers the middle .

trunk - bmw cargo mat.

Nice.

Loving that Car with aero kit. Job well done. Congrats.

Armand 11-15-2009 10:12 PM

Tastefully done! Congrats.
Stellar job on the hitch. BMW site says the hitch does not work with the aero kit. Evidently not true...

rh71 11-15-2009 10:18 PM

nice, grats!

well, I had to have the body shop make a cutout.. and the bottom plate is missing otherwise i wouldnt have access to the pin.

i am surprised why BMW cant make a removable panel for the hitch and the plug.. seems so easy.

Major04 11-15-2009 10:36 PM

Congrats and totally agree with the areo kit...it makes the ride!

shashankmittal 11-15-2009 10:54 PM

A job meticulously done! Awesome!

Since you have the cleanest install of a trailer hitch, could you take pictures next time you hook something up to it so we can see how you are still able to hook up all the connectors? I'd love to convince my dealer to make the minimal cuts you made, but I'm worried they'll object it won't work and I'd like to show them it does.

Are the rola cross bars relatively easy to add and remove (e.g., special allen wrench)? I usually take mine off if I don't have bikes on the roof (though it looks like you use the traileer hitch for bikes/skis)

chefwong 11-16-2009 02:12 PM

Congrats. Looks like you made off quite well with the install fee....

Just constructive critque....but is the right side cut of the hitch slightly not square and a bit to the right....

Looks great nontheless. Maybe it's just the picture shot....but that would drive me insane everytime I would wash the car ;-)

sure, I'll take pics so you can prove your dealer wrong.

Regarding Rola bars, they come with a special allen key that i store in the glovebox. I love how they look and never take them off cause they dont create any wind noise (imho). www.rolaproducts.com

you are 100% correct. the cut is just a bit off.. and yes, that could potentially drive me insane too.. but, it does look very clean overall so i just close my eyes and move on. :)

Redridge 11-16-2009 02:24 PM

That looks awesome, the painted grill ties that whole front end together. thanks for sharing!

Question, The Rola Website is a bit confusing.... do you have the part number to those cross bar you have. Thanks a million.

Nicely thought out and executed on all mods.

apw2607 11-17-2009 02:47 PM

Ya, that looks great. Way better than the regular bumper with the hitch. Thats a complete mess.

Post new pics of the hitch .... we all now want to do what you've done !

Can you post a pic of what you did with the hitch electrical outlet ?

genemish 11-18-2009 10:28 PM

will try this weekend if i get the car back from service...

apw2607 11-19-2009 12:32 AM

Awesome .... thanks ... out of curiosity .... how come you didn't just purchase a X5 with the M-Sport pack, rather than going with regular X5 and adding the dealer installed Aero kit ?

Personally ... and I might be in the minority here, but I think the Aero kit looks better than the M-Sport bumper ! :-)

FaMaK 11-23-2009 10:05 PM

Looks great! Have you thought about painting the black bumper fascia to match the color of the car? That would look sweet!

nunofernandes 11-25-2009 12:31 AM
