mudguard pricing

Hey guys, just wanna say thanks for all the info about the diesel, ordered mine in 10/17 but apparently wasn't put into the computer till 10/29. My CA at jmk got let go and now a new CA got reassigned to me but haven't been helpful as it takes him more than a week to get back to me about some pricing information so I might as well ask here even though he has 18 years of experience. Anyway my production date is week 49 which is coming up pretty fast. Just wondering how much it would be to have front and rear mudguards installed on a 2010 x5 diesel, since I'm asking about the mudguard pricing, I might as well ask about the halogen hid's. I read somewhere on this forum that bmw uses 4.3k halogens, I was wondering if I can change it to 6k for personal preference without voiding the warrenty?

Mudguards - I did it on mine myself, took about 1-1.5 hours, and I took it very slow. If you know how to handle a screwdriver and a wrench, and have a common sense, you are good to go.

BWM is unlikely to install aftermarket halogens in their shop on brand-new car...

I put 6k (actually more like 5800k) Philips Ultinons in mine... had the headlamp replaced for an unrelated issue... no questions asked... it's a bulb after all....

so replacing the bulb with an after-market shouldnt void the warrenty... good to know thanks for the replys guys

No. It would only void the warranty of the bulb and possibly ballast (assuming you have HIDs) should it ever prematurely failed.

FYI...there's no such thing as halogen HID. It's either Halogen, which has a Tungsten filament or it's HID (no filament), which is filled with Xenon gas. If it's Halogen, there's no way that you can get to the 4300k temperature (well...may be you can, but which so much color-coated on the bulb, the light output would be horrendous).

After-market products do not affect the warranty. warranty just does not cover after-market products on your car, Warranty only covers OEM parts.

Aftermarket products do indeed affect the warranty IF that aftermarket product caused something to go wrong on/with the car. The warranty will not cover something that went wrong with the car because of an aftermarket product. And it has to be proven that the aftermarket product caused the problem.

I ment that if an after-market product brakes, warranty will not cover it and if the After-market product causes something to go wrong it will not cover it. But if the After-market products do not effect it, warranty still covers it.

just wondering, are you talking about Lester that was let go?

BMWx5TruckOwner 11-25-2009 10:10 PM

Sadly yes, I spoke with him around 1 then.6 hours later I get a call that he was let go 6 hours later, I hope he's doing well, anyway the new CA that inherited me seems to be extremely busy which I don't really mind
