Oil Smoke/Vapors

One thing I have noticed on my new Diesel is that if I take off the oi fill cap after the engine has been fully-warmed and then stopped, I get some light smoke/vapors coming out for a few seconds. I never noticed this on my prior gasoline engines (at least not the ones in good shape). Is this normal for Diesels, which I suspect have more blow-by?
