I understand your other view of them, but I just can't agree unless it's documented and proven that they're being tested to ensure that it's sensitive enough for motorcycles also. I'm guessing there is a fine line between detecting a motorcycle and a car, and if they sensor is cranked up too much in order to detect a motorcycle that it might overreact and see a car that is in the other lane like it normally would be, so by default it's set to be less sensitive.
As for the older people, that's a whole different soapbox. If they can't turn their heads, should they really be driving period? I think more technology makes people more complacent and frees them up to do other things..texting, talking on the phone/passengers, etc. People become reliant on these techonologies, which I think in turn causes less driving skills as a whole. After taking a driving school w/ the Porsche and BMW CCA, I still find it ammusing that people adjust their side mirrors to see the cars behind them instead of using them more for blindspot checks. We don't need three mirrors to see the same car behind us.
