Seat and other memory settings

I heard/read this some where. Please say 'yes'.
Seat, steering, rare view settings can be memorized to the key and when you unlock the door using that key all these memory settings become active and get adjusted.
Is this true?

If so how long would that take for all this to happen after remotely open the door?

Yes, except if you get the Comfort seats, the bolster adjustment cannot be memorized.

I don't know if the adjustments take place when you unlock the doors, or when you open the doors.

The setting is in the iDrive.

Ummm.. no, my bolster is memorized..

About 8 seconds on my 08 3.0.

Essentually every one of the possible adjustments differ between my wife and I. If I'm moving fast, I'll be in the seat while it is moving to the new positions.

I've set I-Drive to begin the movements when the unlock buton is pressed rather than wait till the door is opened.

Then the Owner's Manual is wrong.

Page 45.

It also says the lumbar support is not memorized. On my X5, the position of the lumbar support is memorized, but not the "bulge" amount. It, and the bloster position, seems to stay at whatever the last setting was, not the key which is used.

It appears the adjustments which depend upon air pressure/pump are not memorized, which makes some sense, at least to me.

You can hear the various systems begin adjusting as soon as you unlock the door. Or if the X5 is already unlocked, as as soon as you put your key in the 'ignition'. The mirrors adjust quickly, the seat a little slower and the steering takes more time than it did on our E53 X5.

With 'comfort seats' the lumbar does not adjust with the key :(

My memory settings are not getting active until I insert the key.
Is that how it should be?
I don't have comfort access.
I thought all the changes would start taking place according to memory settings as soon I remote open the door.

When the seat/mirror/steering memory settings are activated is a user option that can be set via the iDrive.

Anyone else seeing the steering wheel position not memorized?

If it is not then you most likely need to do the reset on the steering column. The rest is performed by adjusting it all the way up, all the way down, all the way in and all the way out. That should initialise the memory and make it automatic from there.

But it should definitely remember the steering position.
