iPod connector cable flaky?
I am having what appears to be a mechanical problem w/the iPod cable (the Y->1/8" jacl & USB). Not sure how that's possible in today's day/age but it just doesn't work right... I tried it on 3 iPods and one iPod's connector is messed up internally, so that doesn't count, but in case of the other two the sound starts oscillating from left to right at times, or just goes to one side and I have to jiggle the iPod/connector to get it to normal. If I just ty a regular original Apple iPod connector->USB It plays fine w/no distortions or sounds weirdness... but I don't get the full "integration" effect and the iPod control is awkward through iDrive. The connector looks ok though just as if it were cheaply made or something and slightly off in size or fit so all the connections are not always good or something... very weird... Anyone else noticed anything similar?
I have not gone to the dealer yet but honestly I am afraid to after my last experience w/BMW Of Fairfax, and other dealers are at least 30 min further away from me... so it's just painful to plan a trip like that. Especially that I will most likely have to make several trips before they actually get their shit together ... spacey :D |
I've noted the same behavior with my iPod. Only a couple of times, and I didn't think to check cables then, but I have checked cables in the past when upon starting, and calling up the iPod on AUX, the iPod is not recognized, message says there is no device. Mess with the cables, unplug iPod, reconnect, shutdown vehicle, restart, still won't recognize iPod. Come back later... everything works fine. I'm certain I won't be able to reproduce the speaker issue for the dealer, but maybe the not recognizing that the iPod is connect. Vehicle was purchased with the iPod integration kit.
