Aero Kit install - DIY?
 

My month old 35d was in a small accident last sunday, might need a new rear bumper... since it will go in to a body shop to fix/replace it, im thinking of having my aero kit installed at the same time (my initial plan was to put it on after this winter)

But im just thinking, how hard is it (aero kit) really to install?
I already have the PDF installation manual, but i wanna hear from anybody out there who installed it themselves... any surprise during the installation?

and yes, that truck in front of me is the culprit... and hes paying ;)

Its easy.. you can do it yourself in about an hour..

Yes, I loved mine, just thought it through and let it go. I didn't think I'd miss it that much so maybe a 2011 Twin Turbo maybe in store for the future. Definitely put the aero kit and some rims (214's / 215) and it'll get looks no matter where you go. People always commented on mine that there is something different about it...

the aero kit is already painted? I didn't want the hassle of bringing it somewhere myself to get it painted so I just had them do it all (while getting gouged at the same time of course). Had I seen the PDF I may have very well considered going through the hassle of figuring it out myself. Don't forget the adhesive. ;)

its not painted yet, but i have a guy that can "probably" paint it cheap...

its simple to fit i did mine after downloading the PDF instructions given on this site. there is a few things you need to pay close attention to. when your fitting the front apron frame you need make sure you 100% get it bang on in the middle of the bumper otherwise the two outer parts wont fit flush against the bumper.

other than that everything else is simple an straight forward on the front.
the instructions mentioned something about a heat gun to form the front kit but didn't need to use any of that.

the rear is the same principal make sure you get the rear sub frame 100% in the middle other wise the outer parts don't line up properly.

ignore the time it says on the pdf for install that only applies after you installing a few cause it took me about 1.hr 45 mins. just take your time installing and follow the instructions carefully but the key is the middle sub frame must be in the middle an when your finished you'll have a big smile on your face... the car will then look the business:thumbup:

^ there is adhesive in play correct? My right rear and left front sides are starting to come away from the bumper a little... not sure how to remedy it.

the only adhesive used on the whole install is on the centre peice of the front aero kit.

even then not to sure why the instruction says to put adhesive on cause that piece of the kit over clips on gets screwed on from below making it imposible for that peice to fall off or pull forwared as its cliped on from behind.

the rear should not be comming away at all as theres not adhesive used. the only thing i can think of is that your self tapping screws which come with the kit may have come loose.

i know what you mean about the front side edges for that all youd need to do is unscrew that peice and re clipp it back in cause that panel clips in a inward and downward push and if its come away from the grove the edges look like its comming away from the bodywork.

the whole process is easy always remove the centre peices to get to the outer panels this applies to the front and rear.
