What tires are you using? How are they in the snow with the staggered 20s?

vic1129 12-20-2009 01:27 PM

sweet! You inspired me to go out and play too... of course I forgot the shovel so I didn't venture too deep... was fine in 6" and slush though. The traction control light had a good time. BTW, it's half clean cause it was garaged overnight... woulda looked better in full battlegear.

Hi rh71,

Are you running with Proxy ST All-Sesaon on your 214 Staggered setup? Did you put chain on? I am thinking to put ST II All-season when I go to Tahoe.

I had to swap out the ST to STII because of that vibration & they don't make them in 315 anymore. It was a tire defect on 1 side. So that's what I'm running, no chains... was just out for a quickie test. I don't know if these all-seasons will handle all that much and not get stuck to be honest, I'd bring the chains... I didn't have a shovel with me and walking distance to home in the cold was not ideal... otherwise I would've really given it a test. But it handles typical roads with zero problems... yes staggered, they weren't sleds, that's for sure.

One thing I did have a problem with - it's funny, so much snow/slush got stuck on the interior of all the rims that it started causing a vibration/wobble as I drove back on regular roads... had to knock it all out. The X is very sensitive to wheel weights.

Quick question - which wheels do you put chains on? All? Front?

Thanks
