Sirrius to XM satellite radio swap
 

I just bought a 2010 X5 35D with Sirrius radio factory installed. I prefer XM's programming and have it in my other 3 vehicles. I have seen some aftermarket XM kits that say they will integrate with my system with full functionality. My main concern is the antenna. Will I be able to use my factory shark fin antenna or will I have to use the magnetic one supplied with the XM module? Also will the XM module be mounted and all of the connection's take place in the left rear compartment of the cargo area?

U can use the same antenna...don't know if it will work with the 2010's, but I have XM in my 08 using M0Bridge.

You can get the best of XM from Sirius. I have XM in my Lexus,and I don't like paying full price for both subscriptions plus my I Phone...

The problem with the best of XM is there is really nothing to it. It consists of Oprah, NPR, and the rest is sports channels. My favorite channel on XM is The Groove which is funk and disco from the late 70's thru the 80's which is my favorite music. I called and talked to Sirrius and they only offer it for listening on line much to my dismay. I have even resorted to downloading several hours of The Groove and burning it to a disc to play in my car. This has led me to the conclusion I need my XM back.

I thought sine Sirius and XM merged they offered the same content?! Nothing will integrate with your car like the oem Sirius radio regardless of what they're telling you. You may get to change channels etc using your radio controls but no aftermarket kit that I know of will give you the display and full functionality through your iDrive system. You could use the oem antenna but I honestly wouldn't do it...

BTW how do you burn satellite radio on to disc? I've been looking for a way to do that! I'm just too lazy to sit and download songs to my ipod. I just get my cousins to do it and keep my ipod with the latest tunes...:D

Have you tried the m0bridge...just like sirius except its XM

There is a program you can buy called replay AV8 it allows you to download XM radio so it can be burned to a disc. My wife found it and burned the discs for me. I think all I am goimg to have to do is change out the Sirius module for the XM module. I did it on my 07 Audi Q7 and my wifes 07 Audi A4. Audi was just in the process of switching over from XM to Sirius back then which was a mistake. My boat and Harley have XM and I want to stay with them. That way I don't have to subscribe to two different services which is more expensive. The best of XM on Sirius is a joke. I don't know why they even bother to offer it unless you are a Oprah fan, which I am not. Besides that the reception is better for XM than Sirius up where I live in Northern Calif.

Major League Baseball hasn't done its part to approve the merger. So you can't get MLB on Sirius, even with the Best of XM.

the only way to get everything is to get XM with the best of Sirius.

I've been a Sirius subscriber for years, but since I moved out of market, I wanted to get MLB... can't do it in Sirius.

I feel your pain. I just wish we still had a choice in what service we want. When we spend this much money for a vehicle we shouldn't be limited to one satellite provider. I only want one particular channel, more than willing to pay extra for it, but still can't get it. The whole thing is very irrritating. With XM and Sirius one company now why can't this be a possibility?

With the best of Sirius on XM, do you get all the NFL games?
