Those of you with older iDrive
 

When you go to Navigation and there's a list of options that's longer than the page allows, you have to go down the list further with your knob and when you turn the knob right at the bottom of the page, it shows more options one by one but you feel way more resistance than any other time, say going through radio stations. And it should feel the same when you go up, but in my case, the resistance I feel is different than when I go down. It takes more turning to go down than going up. How about you?

I believe they got rid of the knob resistance with the '08+. Have you had a firmware update? That might do it.

I have had a firmware update and mine's a 08. Maybe it's because mine's a European version

I don't mind the knob resistance, but not sure if the difference in resistance/turning point between up and down is normal. The dealer near me doesn't seem to have older idrive for me to try out.

Does anyone know far the knob in an older iDrive system turns either way forced? It feels like it turns right or left as long as there's some sort of force to it.
