Question on Bluetooth

Since the E70 does not have a touch screen, how do you dial a number that is not on your phonebook, do you have to dial on the cell phone only?

tks.

you can dial # via the idrive knob.... by rotating the knob and choosing numbers on the screen....

On my '09 E70, I use the voice control to dial the numbers... just say "Dial Number", wait for it to prompt you, say the phone number, it will show what you said, then say more numbers, or "Next" to make it place the call.

My problem with the bluetooth is that the caller id on the screen never shows who's calling. It just rings and the screen says accept/reject (I think) but no caller id!

I had a toyota venza and had the same problem, when receiving calls, the display will only show incoming call but no telephone number, not even the name of the person calling that is on my phone book.

BMW gives a list of which phones it officially works with so anything else is a crapshoot... I'm just happy my HTC Titan (Verizon XV6800) works. I don't usually have this problem you describe unless it just bluetooth-paired a few seconds ago... it has to retrieve names which takes a bit of time. Also, for me, hitting accept for an incoming call sometimes take at least 5-10 seconds to actually connect (faster to hit the damn "talk" button on the phone). Quirky.

The programmable buttons rock!

I set 1 to my favorite FM station, 1 to my IPOD, 4 to my most frequently called phone numbers and the last 1 to access the AUX for the rear seat entertainment.

It's instant and no need to do any navigation via iDrive. I also believe this follows which key is being used.

I believe it stores the actual phone number in there (don't quote me on it, I may be wrong about this). I just remember that I've been able to call the numbers when other people's phone pairs up to it before mine cuz they get in the car first (and they don't have that number in their phone book).
