How to remove Power Steering Pulley?
 

Just found this great site, hope you guys can help me with my question.

I broke a peace of the power steering pulley on my BMW 2002 X5. I need to replace it, but I can not take it out. It is held with 3 bots, but as I try loosening the bolts the pulley turns.
Is there a ways to jam to pulley so that it does not turn?
Or do I have to remove the complete power steering pump and use some sort of pulley removal tool?

Did you slightly loosen the bolts before removing the belt? Usually you can use the installed belt to hold the pulley enough.

If the belt is not enough, is there a recess or something on the pump shaft that might accept a Hex, Torx, or Spline bit to hold the shaft?

You can rent, for free, pulley removal tools from places like Autozone, Schucks, etc. What were you prying on to break it in the first place?

Thanks for the advice, I saw some other post on the internet and that is exactly what I did. I used a our compressor gun to get the three bolt out that hold the pulley, this way the pulley did not spin while loosing the three bolts. Then I rented (for free) a pulley removal device from Autozone to pressure out the pulley.
The reason I broke the pulley in the first place is because I thought it was a tough metal and I try prying on it to release the Vbelt hyrolic tentioner. I know that the belt tentioner has it's one hex screw (bolt) on the tentioner pulley but I did not have the right hex tool then.
