Anyone that has tried the BSW Upgrade for the Premiun System

BMW Speakers Upgrade for BMW X5 / X5M 07+ (E70) | BSW

Let me know your thoughts.

Since the speakers will not be sold until March 30, 2010, according to the web site, the only people that might have tried it would be prototype testers.

Someone said the 2010 standard system no longer came with tweeters in the A pillars, i.e., the standard system was cheapened from 2009 to 2010 models. If that is true, I wonder if the system shown will work on a 2010 standard audio system, since it appears to come with tweeters.

BSW is nothing more than Rainbow speakers w/ an inflated price. Search "rainbow" on the CAI thread you will be able to find links to their direct site for better pricing.

They (BSW) are seeking money upfront to develop the solution .. that's the reason for the current discount.. The Hi-Fi option also does not include the centre speaker replacement :stickpoke... you'll be better off spending money on other branded speakers .....

I absolutely agree. I've seen a few posts of custom E53 and E70 setups floating around, so it might be worth a search and doing some homework. The only real question I always wonder about is what ohm speakers to get....4, 8, etc so we don't overload the amp but running too many speakers at the wrong ohm. I pulled the stock 6.5" subs from the stock E53 sub enclosure lastnight, and they were DVC subs rated @ 8 ohms. I imagine the other speakers have the same things listed on them.

The Rainbow site is acting weird, but searching for "Rainbow speakers BMW" on Google found me these links :

The first link mentions that Rainbow's are good speakers, but they're harder to get for reasonable prices. I do agree w/ some of the posters on mp3car that Morel and Focal are good speakers, I've never heard CDT's in person. I'm probably gonna stick w/ the ol' faithfulls...MB Quart.

The middle link for the E46 listing on BSW's website no longer mentions that they use Rainbow, so maybe someone else has also figured out that BSW was marking them up.

years ago Analog and Digital Systems (a/d/s) had direct upgrades for the five series...for those of you who have never heard of them, suffice it to say they are AMAZING, but very, very pricey!!!!

I'll have check..may be a great alternative...Still have a few amps and speakers from one of my cars sittign in the garage, long outdated, but still awesome.

a/d/s used to make some good quality stuff.. I have been out of the audio scene for nearly 10years. too many break ins and not worth that kind of trouble anymore.

can't find them on the web anymore..looks like 2009 may have been the end of them.

I agree with phattbam..in 1990 i spent over $15k on stereo equipement in one of my cars, sounded great, but I was always getting broken into...I'd love to get back into it, but have better things to spend my kids money on!

We were not marking up any products that Rainbow was selling. We did not stock any 'Rainbow Speakers' that would be for general installs. We used Rainbow drivers that were custom tailored for our products. They even had BSW part numbers to correspond with the Rainbow products. It was not an off the shelf part that we simply marked up.

Rainbow changed impedance, efficiency levels, wiring and more for our products specifically.

At this point we have passed the quality of the Rainbow drivers and designed, engineered and are now manufacturing our own BSW drivers. They are 100% our speakers. I just wanted to clear up that information.
