Battery
This is right from the DIY article.
"Other alternatives to consider are the Sears Diehard International (approx. $109), AutoZone's Duralast (approx. $75), and NTB (Exide). Diehard International and Duralast are actually the same battery - from Johnson Controls. The Duralast comes with an external vent extension for fitting a BMW." I called autozone and they got a duralast gold for $144 +12 core. Has the price gone up that much or is this some other perhaps upgraded battery?!?! So if i disconnect the battery will I have some stereo issues or other problems? Can someone enlighten me before I disconnect the battery and fry my car because of some silly BMW specific procedure. I have a charger that i can hook up to the posts under the hood so it doesn't lose any power if I must. Thanks, D |
I had zero probs after my batt replacement; I did get dashboard lights for a minute,
but turning key off and back on, (not to start), cleared them. Others have posted to take it for a ride and their lights went out. All my radio presets remained in good shape. I did not use any external charging; but, I do rec'd you put your new battery on a low amp/trickle type charge before installing, as few batteries come fully/properly charged from the store. That Duralast price is what AZ's site shows for a price. Yes, you can noodle around and maybe find one a few bucks cheaper, but if AZ is handy for you, it's a top line batt. Easy DIY, as in < 30 mins. GL, mD |
Thanks for the info Duralast it is.
