C'mon X5Meister---don't hate on Rhonda when Rhonda is installing by hand the new 400HP and 300HP TT's we have been waiting for.

Uh yeah I might wait until year 2 production with all that going on. Meanwhile I will keep driving my trusty '01 e53 with no payments.

She is just doing her job. She works for BMWNA where NA stands for "Not Available" ;)

After final quality control checks, the last thing she does is remove the flashlight from the glovebox, marks it as complete and moved onto the next one. That's what's in the cardboard box next to her. This then goes to the aftermarket parts department :D

This picture looks like a space gray in the foreground with a platinum gray in the background? I was leaning towards a platinum gray perhaps but maybe space gray is the way to go.

Where they sell it on ebay for double the retail price.

Rhonda's job also includes making sure that a not so insignificant percentage of X5s (proudly made in the US) will have at least one major manufacturing defect, like DEF lines NOT connected to the corresponding tank, or DEF tanks NOT filled with DEF, or battery drainage issues that BMW will blame on driver habits, or audio system issues that BMW will blame on the driver's cell phone choice, or inexplicable auto-opening of all windows and sunroof that BMW blames on drivers keeping the key fob in their pocket or too close to the parked car, or significant blemishes/holes/cuts on door panels of cars shipped fresh from the factory (this one BMW does not know how to blame customers for yet, but they're working on it). Judging by the number of posts about such complaints, Rhonda must me working 24/7, everyday of the year and she's doing a heck of a job!

And she's doing one heck of a job judging by the parts, accessories and retrofits that "simply don't exist" or never existed (!) in the US, yet were designed by teams of engineers in Bavaria, with meticulous instructions written up, and then printed in brochures and accessories catalogs.

I can't remember the person who did the job for the E53 X5... let me find out...

Found it! For the E53 X5 Carol was large and in charge. Here you can see she is in the power position standing over by the driver side (making sure no doubt that someone didn't install a wide-angle mirror on that puppy). For those with good eyes, you'll notice Rhonda who was just a wee little youngin' getting trained; here she is making absolutely certain this US bound X5 didn't get out of the factory with a forward camera system. Big Rick is on the back end examining for a rear view camera and Jimbo was responsible for rims, but is instead reading the sports page. As this US X5 left with a set of Individual rims (style 152) Jimbo got in a heap of trouble. BMW would have let him slide had this been the 499,999th X5, but since it was the 500,000th and the photos were sent to the big bosses at BMW AG (where the photo was made into a company mousepad handed out to every employee who successfully completed the PDFAOCT (Please Don't Fuck Around On Company Time) workshop), old Jimbo was canned and he now works in Toyota's prestigious Prius brake system development division.

LeMansX5, am I missing something here? Is this not a BMWNA vehicle and furthermore is it possibly a BMW Individual order? The roof rails are the aluminum style that are flush with the roof similar to the M package but the wheels are sport activity package wheels and the front mesh below the grill looks more silver/gray than black. Both are styling choices that I definitely wouldn't prefer on the 2011.

C'mon, some of this isn't true . . .

X5 Meister 03-23-2010 11:32 PM

Okay, you're right. Using the word "prestigious" is probably inaccurate.
