using one car jack to remove rear two tires?
 

Does the e70 come with a jack? I want to remove the rear two tires from my x. Can one jack (i have one from another car rated at 1200KG) be used to remove both tires?

i will place the jack in the center of the rear portion of the car.

is this ok?

1200 KG is what 2700 pounds? you do know an E70 weighs at least twice that much right? :rolleyes:

i would suggest a floor jack rated at 5000 pounds (2500 KG) at least not sure i would jack up the truck from the rear diff as it might be aluminium.

and yes some E70s have jacks. look under the cargo floor.

Speaking of which, does anyone have a list, or better yet photos, of the safe jack points on the E70 (other than the four jack pads), e.g., is it safe to use a floor jack on the rear differential?

Will this help; I had to remove my 215's and this helped a lot. Just did one at a time, was not that hard except the one that got mangled.

Penquin, do you feel the E70 is different from the E53, "underneath"?

I, and many here, have used a floor jack with success: in front the E53 has a jack point under the engine, and in the rear, I position the jack on the lower suspension
arm where it pivots into the frame, with an old piece of plywood for protection and
malleability where the jack puck meets. Never had a problem.

yes i do know that....but this jack came with a locally made suv which weighs (kerb weight) = 2500 KG, and the kerb weight for the 3.0d is 2150 kg ish, so i would have thought it was ok to use...

The jack points are super easy, there is a small plastic rectangular section of under body just behind the front tires, and in front of the rears that is raised out a bit from the rest of the underside. When you look, you can't miss it.

if your using the jack to just jack up one side and not the whole truck I think it would surfice. However, I would err on the side of caution and use a jack that has the capacity to raise the vehicles 2150 kgs. Also, it is safer to use jack stands under the vehicle even when changing tires rather than relying on the jack to bear the full weight. Jacks do fail. A floor jack is much safer and better than a scissor jack especially if you're raising the vehicle from the rear pumpkin or front center jack point. I wouldn't trust a scissor jack for that task. Of course this is just my opinion.
