No Start in 999 miles

At 4500 miles my X35d showed No start in 999 miles. Checking iDrive in Check Control message, it says something about Exhaust fluid. After a day, the error went away. I called the Service dept and took the truck there yesterday. I'm picking it up later today and the SA said that they loaded a new software update. Seems that there was a bug in the programming that throws an erroneous error. Will post here once I see the Service document.

That doesn't sound like an erroneous error. You should ask them to drain/refill your DEF.
I guess we'll see if the message comes back within 999 miles.

Mine did the same thing. 4500 or so miles, message went away never to return. Now just over 9000.

Mine too although at 900 miles. Dealer checked it out and everything was fine. No sign of it since.

Got it back from the dealer and they checked the DEf level and both tanks are still full. Per Service doc "Performed ISTA/P update version 37.x

My 35d was produced Dec 1 2009.

I guess I'm just too dense* to understand how an X5 35d that has been driven 4,500 miles can have a DEF system where "both tanks are full".

So either you, or some one else, has been secretly topping up your DEF tanks
OR
Your DEF system is so whacked that it has not used a single drop of DEF in 4,500 miles
OR
Maybe, just maybe, your dealer is smoking you.;)

But not to worry, you are first to report having an ISTA-P update version 37.x --- whatever that means

* Yes I know many (perhaps most) Xoutpost.com members already think I'm dense. But hopefully, not this dense --- yet :)
