lowering my X5 ?

Just wondering what I should know about lowering my X5. I'll be taking delivery of my 4.8 on Monday and it's being fitted with a set of black 21" 215's. I'll be adding the extended wheel flares and I think it would need to be lowered to complete the look. What's involved in lowering the car? Are there different ways to go about this? Any issues with my factory warranty if I do this?

There are plenty of threads about lowering on the site, just search.

And congrats on the new ride!

Yes. If there is a possible theory by which lowering the ride CAN be a cause of a failure. your dealer and BMW may use that to deny a warranty claim.

There are large hex bolts under each strut that allow you to adjust the ride height - I just noticed this on my neighbor's X5.

We lowered his quite a bit, I think it was a 32mm socket?

I've done a lot of reading but still can't wrap my head around the best lowering option to keep the car the least "altered" ?

Is this process $thousands or a couple of hundred ??

Can the dealer do this or it has to be done elsewhere?
