Stolen BMWs for NY Auto Show

Perhaps this might be why the X5 at the auto show looked so bleh...

The 550i Sophisto -- the only one in this country -- was among six Beemers stolen in three heists at the Port Authority-owned lot in Jersey City and at a private facility in Elizabeth, sources said.

The $90,000 sedan was driven off early on March 13 from the BMW Port Jersey preparation center in Jersey City. It was supposed to go on display at the New York International Auto Show.

At least three thieves broke into the lot just after 2 a.m. and drove off in the Sophisto, a 535xi and a 650i, sources said.

They returned Monday night and swiped a 750 LXI. On Wednesday night, the gang is believed to have swiped at least one Beemer from a company facility in Elizabeth.

go take a xanax, and its been posted several times across the forum. People aren't that lazy.

I can't believe they didn't steal the new B7. That was my favorite car at the show and I'm not a fan of the 7 series in general.

What does one do with a stolen one of a kind car?! whats the point of stealing it?

Wait, what? The article doesn't mention anything about an X5 being stolen so where's the correlation?

If you remember the 2011 NY Auto Show thread there was a lot of convo about how the X5 had old headlights and didn't look updated.

OK, but what does that have to do with BMW's being stolen from the prep center, none of them were X5's.
