Anyone have issues with their NAV?
Does anyone ever experience issues with their Navigation not being recognized by iDrive when they start up their trucks? This is my 4th BMW with iDrive and I haven't had this issue before with any of them and the Nav system.
Basically, when I turn the car on, the Trip Computer comes on, on the right side of the screen. I have it set to default to the Direction of Travel feature when the car comes on. When the Trip Computer shows up, I know the Nav isn't working. When I click the knob, the other Nav Features aren't available (they're not highlighted). I have to eject the Nav disc and reinsert and it comes back on. It's really bizarre. I'm thinking it's the Nav disc, but was curious if anyone has had this issue before. I hope it's not the laser reader on the DVD system. That will be annoying. I'm going to try the Nav disc from my M5 and see if that works, but it's not all the time. It happens maybe once every 15 times, if that. It's totally random. Just curious if anyone else has experienced this? |
Yes. It happens on mine as well. Also at random. Very odd you have it too. Curious now.

Known issue. Several threads. Basically, your DVD drive is bad. Had mine replaced under warranty as have others.

Well, I have a '10 (no disc) but mine also has a strange/odd and inconsistent behavior. I have nav up on display and park (off ignition and leave vehicle), come back and start the vehicle - sometimes the screen returns to Nav map as I left it and other times it returns to Menu display. When it returns to menu, Nav is highlighted so I click and then the nav map opens but not to the complete full view I had left it in. The left margin controls are activated so I have to scroll to the bottom one (scale) and click for the controls to move out and get the full complete screen view. As I said, other times I start up the vehicle and the Nav map opens full view (no left side controls activated) just as I had left it. I can find nothing different in my behavior which might be causing this random fluctuation and I cannot find a way to consistently reproduce the outcome.
Otherwise, my iDrive is pretty consistent. Occasionally I will be listening to a CD and iDrive shows "no disc" even tho it is playing. :dunno: |
