Performance parts and Aero kit for LCI X5

5 Attachment(s)
Time for X5 performance parts
Performance aerodynamic kit,
BMW Performance front grille in black,
BMW Performance silencer system,
BMW Performance alloy wheel Y-spoke 375, 21 inch

rh71 04-16-2010 09:28 PM

- more details on the silencer system (and why anyone would want to do that)?
- aero kit front looks just ok, was curious how they would work around all the new bumper lines. The rear looks horrible... way too busy.

EdwardL 04-16-2010 09:32 PM

aero kit looks OK but I still prefer the 2011 M-Sport front and rear bumpers, in particular the placement of the front fog lights.

nynd 04-16-2010 09:51 PM

Are there hi-res pics of the aero kit available?

Dking05 04-17-2010 12:22 AM

I like where this is going :)
Just more reason it should be standard.
ALTHOUGH, those side skirts look odd.

Thavipah 04-17-2010 02:03 AM

I'm waiting for a brake upgrade kit :)

Epacy 04-17-2010 12:00 PM

Do like aero kit and want it on most soon.

mtech8 04-18-2010 11:38 AM

Nice. Really like the profile photos of the car!

Front: definitely makes the car look more aggressive and complete.
Side: nice touch
Rear: not really feeling it. Don't like the look of the rear middle section

Wheels: look great. But I'd never get them. Looks hard to clean!

But if I had an LCI, I'd get the kit.

You can tell who's "in the trade". I had to use Google to find out that LCI was "Life Cycle Impulse" :)

I like it. Like rh71, I'm wondering what the silencer change would be?

I know it's OT, but a new Audi R8 4.2 "cruised" past me today -- I was going 85mph at the time. I could not believe the sound of that engine! :yikes: Obviously, it was still at low revs but I would like a car that sounds like that one day.... :mmm:

sheikh36 04-18-2010 06:44 PM

any news about availability? is it orderable? what about a horsepower boost similar to the X-6 performance package?

Ninja 04-18-2010 09:25 PM

weird the the wheel arches are not colour-coded..looks like a base model with an add-on kits? contrasting effect?

Edge647 04-19-2010 01:04 PM

Is the LCI aero kit same as the previous version (non M-Sport) version?

I think it's pretty safe to say that it's a different kit. It kinda resembles the non-LCI aero kit. But clearly the shape is different, plus it adds side skirts.

BMW used last month’s 2010 Geneva Motor Show to unveil a new range of performance accessories to be sold under the “BMW Performance” line of factory backed modifications. The BMW Performance line was originally introduced a couple of years back for the 3-Series and was quickly expanded to cover the 1-Series and Z4 models.

Now it’s the X5 and X6 models getting the performance makeover. The wide range of products from BMW Performance offers numerous options for customizing the vehicles, including modifications for the drivetrain, suspension, aerodynamics and cockpit.

Some of the items include an aerodynamics kit, which is made up of a new front bumper, side-sills and an insert for the rear bumper, all finished to match the vehicle’s body color. Other pieces include a rear spoiler, rear fins in matt black and a front grid finished in high-gloss black paint.

The powertrain modifications have been developed specifically for the V-8 power unit in the X5 and X6 xDrive50i and the straight-six in the BMW X5 and X6 xDrive35i and significantly improve power and torque levels.

By adjusting the engines’ respective electronic control modules, BMW engineers were able to raise output of the xDrive50i’s twin-turbocharged V-8 to 448 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque--up 41 horsepower and 37 pound-feet of torque over the standard models. The xDrive35i sees gains of 20 horsepower and 37 pound-feet of torque, resulting in an output of 326 horsepower and 332 pound-feet of torque.

Benefiting from the modifications, the models all accelerate 0.2 seconds faster from a standstill to 62 mph, the X5 and X6 xDrive50i with the upgrade completing this sprint in 5.2 seconds and the modified X5 and X6 xDrive35i doing it in 6.5 seconds

A new sports exhaust system is also available.

For the interior, customers will be able to select from a new sports steering wheel with a flattened rim at the bottom and Alcantara trim and aluminum pedals.

All features in the BMW Performance product line will be available individually this June and all the accessories and features will be sold and fitted by official dealers and special BMW retail outlets.

sheikh36 04-21-2010 01:58 PM

I guess that means we can get the performance tuning upgrade for the X-5 in june also as well as that sexy steering wheel...the only con is that it is purely meant to increase dealer profit as it was a factory upgrade it would be cheaper and this is just meant to help dealers gouge us even more.....

Talking about the performance steering wheel....and close-up of the wheel.

Would the aero kit fit on an 07 X5 4.8? That look is nice!!!

magicman 04-22-2010 11:35 AM

Couple of questionso on the steering wheel.
1) If I currently have a non-heated steering wheel, can I simply change the steering wheel like this one and add heating?... in other words, it doesn't require a different wire harness, it's as simple as swapping wheels?
2) I noticed the sports steering wheel had shift paddles. Does this come with the steering wheel?

sheikh36 04-22-2010 11:49 AM

the picture is from the X6 I am guessing the X-5 will not have the paddles......

Does anyone know the order "codes" for the performance tuning... (extra horsies for the 2011 3.5i) ?

Not sure about aero kit.
Some parts will definitely fit.

rh71 06-02-2010 03:54 PM

would love to see how the side aero looks in a real pic.

X5X 06-09-2010 04:50 PM

Looks good, the rear is a bit too busy though.

ALPHA 06-10-2010 06:22 AM

Does anyone have a clue if the rear bumper fits a 2008 e70??? Its the only thing I like on the new e70....

No word yet. For the 2010 X6, the tuning package was referred to as 7RR. Our local dealer who will be in the Performance Accessory program says BMW typically runs 2-3 months late on these types of announcements. Not really a surprise, but may be later this summer before we know more.

I know the tuning software for the V6TT is pretty well sorted out by tuners such Dinan, etc. and would expect something comparable for the N55 if you wanted to go that route. As it looks like you have a diesel on order, I'm not what options are available, but would be curious to know.

Funny how people have different taste. I love everything except the new rear bumper.

If you liked that, you should hear a Porsche Carrera GT at full sing! It'll make you wet your pants! :D

Back on topic, I don't really care for those wheels! They've got a little bit too much going on for my tastes! :beerchug:

mtech8 10-23-2010 03:14 AM

When is this kit expected to be on sale? Still don't see it on the BMW Accessory website.
