BMW Individual Sound System Available?
Can I special order this on a 2011 X5 5.0? Really sound like a great system. 900 Watts vs. 600 on the Premium Sound package.
|
Why don't you ask your dealer?

it's available as an option in Europe so you may be able to special order it in the US.
|
Its available on the 50i in Canada as well.

Isn't it the same thing as the "Enhanced Premium Sound" available on the X5 M? That system is running (apparently) 825 watts vs. the regular premium at 600. The codes are 752 and 677 respectively.
I tried to special order that system on a 35i and was told to forget it. |
Yeah, it's an option on the X5M as "Enhanced Premium Sound" but not regular X5
|
I also had it on my M3 ... complete waste of money.
|
I agree... I wouldn't waste time or money on it. I have it on my X5M and it's still pretty crummy sound system.
|
What I have heard is that the individual system is a different system all together and is very hard to get in the US.
The enhanced premium system is the highest for the M but I don't think it is the same as the Individual Sound System. |
|
I guess I am right.
Might have been easier to just do what you did X5 Meister. |

Thanks for the great link btw. (m5board is the best BMW message board on the net, hands down) Yeah it's unfortunate that the US doesn't get the Individual DIRAC system, but something tells me that half the jackasses still would complain they don't have an Infinity IRS V system in their cars. Quote:

so whats the best option for a 2011 X5 Diesel?

How are you saying Individual is different from Enhanced Premium Sound? |
Snap a few photos of your speakers and post them.

You still didn't answer the question. |
So if you have it then post some pictures of your speakers.

Way to answer the question. Just a way to prolong the inevitability of you admitting you're wrong? |
Whatever you say captain 'audiopile'

4 chances now to answer the question and nothing. |
If you build an X5M with this "enhanced premium sound" and the picture updates with the silver speaker rings. That anecdotally plus the actual specs seem to indicate Individual sound
|
The Individual system has nothing to do with the chrome ring around the speakers. They have created a new system for the M which is the Enhanced Premium system which has the chrome ring, DIRAC, and a little over 800 watts. Its is NOT the Individual sound system tho, and does not compare with it in the slightest. The Individual system is a different system all together.

Are you saying that BMW has created two completely different sound systems with the same specifications and descriptors for the same car for multiple models? If you look at the European brochure it lists 4 levels of sound systems. Does that mean that there is a fifth, US market only, system? |

I wouldn't go so far as calling the information crap; I'm not sure exactly what makes you the definitive expert on all that is BMW. In any case, it does beg the question of why BMW would call the same option a completely different name. There are different packages available in different countries and they have different names because they include a different set of options. I don't see why BMW would call this "Individual" in one market and "Enhanced" in another and "Super Duper" in yet another.

I didn't know I was the definitive expert on all that is BMW. Thanks for thinking of me as such. |

The individual, the high end and the m-audio are all the same. Special Dsp, upgraded speakers and a more powerful amplifier. The speakers also get a aluminum bezel around them. |

Indeed, BMW (and all manufacturers) all spend quite a bit of time creating the illusion of differences- take the term "Sport" that BMW throws around. It can be as superficial as different wheels, window trim and a steering wheel. But the marketing literature leads you to believe it has something to do with suspensions! In some models it does, in others not- all with the express purpose of making BMW more money. |
