new x5 pricing...
never bought a new car before...so just want to prepare myself.
what's the average above invoice or below msrp price? I'm assuming the price on bmwusa is msrp...how do i find the invoice price? looking to get a 2011 x5 diesel. Any tips on negotiating the price down? I'm in Houston, Texas. Thanks Franklin |
try doing the internet inquiries from sites like cars.com or edmunds or kbb. They will have the local dealerships contact you via mail or phone with sometimes quotes. that you can then shop from there. some are haggle free and will give you a great deal from the get go. good luck.

thanks...was pointed to edmunds and got alot of info there....thanks!

invoice seems to be around 8% under msrp.

dealer offered the $4500 credit plus another $1500 off msrp. Good deal?
so what does the 'mobile internet' do under the technology package? thanks franklin |
Horrible deal, ideally you want to work off the factory invoice pricing and negotiate their profit over that. This obviously would also include the Eco Credit.
A great deal for the X5 35d would look something like this Invoice($61,765) - EcoCredit($4,500) + destination($875) + MACO($300) + Training($200) + dealer profit($500-1,000). I used a made up invoice+options to use for this example. |
thanks arjuno...doing it this way is way way better...just have to hope the dealer will go for it.
thanks |

You might have to call 4-5 dealers, but great deals are out there. Dealer pricing is dynamic from week to week. A dealer that might give one person a legitimate invoice+500 deal when he has quite a few allocation slots, might be unwilling to even give a 1000-1500 deal when he has 1-2 allocation slots left. Call around, and look at the whole deal. Don't focus on a particular number, but what the total drive away price will be. It's ultimately what you are comfortable with. There will always be people posting amazing deals etc on these forums, but don't get hung up on those. Find a deal that you can live with, without regrets, so that you can start enjoying your vehicle when it comes in. |

I got $500 over invoice for loaded 35d with one set summer or winter mats included. $4500 eco credit comes off this price (so really $4k under invoice). Seems like $500 over is the goal but mainly depends on local competition. Realistically anything under +$1500 is decent on a car of this price.
As a reminder to anyone who is a BMWCCA member for over a year. You'll get an extra $1000 from BMW after purchase independent of purchase price. BMW CCA - Membership Rewards Program There's also the tax rebate on diesels which I still haven't figured out is $0, $900 or $1800 for the 2011 35d. Anyone got anything definitive? |
