Delay again on X5. You will not be recieving your car anytime soon!

Once again another delay! My car was supposedly done on April 14th. It has been awaiting transport to the shipper for 2 weeks. Now I am told that due to a seat module on back order, it will not be done for at least another 1-2 weeks. I am looking at now getting my car in June! What a joke, as I have been waiting since December 2009 for my car. As in previous posts, I ordered a 2010 X5 which did not start production until end of March some 3 months after I ordered it. I cancelled it for a 2011, and now another delay. Nothing but problems with BMW. Please see attached sales bulletin that my dealer emailed me.

Great to see the bulletin, thanks for posting. At least this should settle the question of whether or not Emissions certification was delayed for some 2011 models.

Good thing I am not ordering anything now (will do so in October)... The wait would have killed me !!!

I think I got in on Week 14 production...whew.

OP,
The new 2011 just went into production. It's only April 2010. And, you're complaining about the delay? If you were in such a hurry, why didn't you just stick with the original order for the 2010?

rans09vert 04-27-2010 09:08 PM

z2g, this is true, I am complaining alot, but with good reason. If I just ordered the 2011, then I would not be complaining about this delay with the seat module. However, because of the first delay, which was so long, 10 weeks before the 2010 went into production, not including production time, and shipping time, and now this delay, I am just frustrated. I am really frustrated because I turned in my leased Audi Q7 6 weeks ago. I expected to have the X5 before my lease on my Audi was up. It is very difficult for my family to not have a vehicle with 3 rows of seats.

The reason I cancelled the 2010 is because my CA called me and offered for me to get a 2011 instead. He said I would recieve it only about 4 weeks later than the 2010. I went on BMWs international website and researched the changes, and then went and drove a 2010 4.8i, and drove a 2010 X6 50i back to back to compare. I liked the 50i much better, liked the updated front and rear bumpers (less black plastic) and liked the 336 20" rims being different than the 214 rims that have been on the road for 4 years, so I decided on the 2011. That is the reason I am in such a hurry, and complaining. I think that you would feel the same way. My other cars are only 4 seaters, a 2009 mini cooper John cooper works convertible, and a 2010 shelby GT500 mustang that I only drive in nice weather, and for cruising. So, my wife and I are in a bind.

Your CA could get fired for giving that to you.

(If you like them, make sure you haven't disclosed their ID in any other posts....)

I find it fascinating that the "diesel expert" at Consumer Affairs "knows of no delay with EPA/CARB" yet there it is in writing!

A

PS. I declined delivery of a 2009 the day it arrived at the dealershio in order to get a 2010. if it is a few weeks (in my case ~7 weeks) it is worth the wait to get a 'one year newer' car. IMO

Epacy 04-27-2010 09:41 PM

lol, seat module delay and EPA/CARB approval delay.

Bravo BMW, bravo!!

That coupled with f@cking over your NA customers with no updated headlamps is just splendid. Thank you for letting me go through this agony and dysfunction.

don't see the problem. In Europe it is often 5-6 months between ordering and getting the vehicle. I think you're lucky!
