tips for buying my 2011 X5 3.5i

I'm sure there have been threads about tips on buying a new X5, but I didn't see any in the first few pages.

Anyway, I'm getting ready to order one here in Lexington, KY and am using the BMW Loyalty Program to get a reduced APR (they said they would knock off a percentage pt...i.e. 3.9% to 2.9%). Does anyone know of any other dealers that use the Loyalty Program and if there is anything else I should ask for?

Also, should I wait to order one in a month or two and see if BMW USA is going to offer any better finance options or incentives on the X5?

Thanks in advance!

Not sure what loan APRs are but these are the base lease rates on the 35i. As you can see, the residual is much higher on the premium and sports activity so avoid the base model for resale value. Don't think there's any reason to wait.

2011 BMW X5 xDrive35i
24 Month – Residual 63% of MSRP – .00220 Base Rate
36 Month – Residual 56% of MSRP – .00220 Base Rate
48 Month – Residual 41% of MSRP – .00240 Base Rate
60 Month – Residual 33% of MSRP – .00240 Base Rate

2011 BMW X5 xDrive35i Premium
24 Month – Residual 67% of MSRP – .00215 Base Rate
36 Month – Residual 60% of MSRP – .00215 Base Rate
48 Month – Residual 43% of MSRP – .00240 Base Rate
60 Month – Residual 35% of MSRP – .00240 Base Rate

2011 BMW X5 xDrive35i Sport Activity
24 Month – Residual 67% of MSRP – .00230 Base Rate
36 Month – Residual 61% of MSRP – .00230 Base Rate
48 Month – Residual 44% of MSRP – .00240 Base Rate
60 Month – Residual 36% of MSRP – .00240 Base Rate

Nothing was available with BMW when we purchased our 2011 x5 so we went with Bank of America instead.... we got 2.89% for 60 months.

thanks for the posts! that is a great APR!! do you have an account with BOA already?

Darwin316, do you have your 2011 X5 yet and if so, do you like the premium sound? Wasn't sure if was worth the upgrade after read some reviews, but am still considering it b/c I like my music.

Thanks.

wells24,

I heard the normal system in a 2011 X5 that I test drove up here in Toronto and it really wasn't that good. While you crank up the bass and treble, there is still way too much mid-range to make it sound decent. I did order premium sound (but didn't hear one) so the fact that an equalizer is present should help along with the 10 extra speakers and power boost.

I did have an account with BOA already (home mortgage), but I think the rates apply for anybody. They currently have 3.09% up to 60 months, but my loan stated that if I purchase more than $25,000, I get a 0.20% deduction = 2.89%.

And yes, we did pick up the x5 last wednesday. I originally had an X5 on order without premium sound but found out that the x5 35i now only has the Base Audio sound system (started in 2010). Only the x5 50i comes standard with HiFi (676) loudspeakers. So we spent the extra money to get the premium sound (677). It definitely makes a difference compared to stock (loudness and the ability to customize the equalizer).

The x5 only has ~300 miles right now so I still cant comment on the engine performance. I do have to get used to the hearing the turbo spool up though... it's definitely a different sounding engine compared to my M3's V8 :D

Well, thank you for posting this! I applied online with Bank of America and had approval about an hour later. 2.84% for 60 months, with an APR of 2.99%. I do have a BoA credit card which I basically never use, but no other prior relationship.

We're picking up our X6 at the Performance Center next week (5/19) and signing all the paperwork this weekend, so this was very timely!

Where there any additional discounts you guys applied to your BofA loan? I've been working on financing with BofA for my 35i coming in next week, and I've only gotten a 3.35%APR. That's with discounts for having a mortgage with them and being an on-line customer.

It doesn't turn out to be much of a difference in the monthly costs, but I'm all for getting the lowest rates possible and not giving the bank any more profit than necessary!

Thanks in advance!

I believe the rates can vary a bit depending on in which state you live and your credit score.

You might want to ask them about 'preferred dealer' discount. They gave me -.2% because the dealership I bought from is part of Bofa 'preferred dealers' network.
